But I strongly feel that the Lord has led me to start this post for anyone who wants to dialogue about this topic especially when someone gave me a rep, but admonished me for agreeing with another poster that this person feels is not a true christian. All that I am trying to be is obedient to God's word as the Holy Spirit has helped me understand it.

Let me answer my own question before anyone misinterprets what my intent is. I don't think anyone should stay in a marriage if his or her life is in constant danger and if that person's spouse is abusing them. With that said, the bible makes it clear that no Christian has any scriptural grounds (unless it's the death of his or her spouse) to freely marry again.
I don't think anyone should stay in a marriage when they are being abused.

If you're not a believer, Christian concepts will make no sense to you, and you will continue to chalk things up and/or dismiss Christians who recite/teach the Word as being judgmental, "self righteous", or just pure WRONG. We can't be on one accord, or "touch and agree" if we're not of the same beliefs.
First problem you have: Physical object (Bible)=God=idolatry. That's your equation and it's NOT a fundamental Christian belief and is in fact discouraged by most Christians I know.

Second: In the beginning was the Word is generally taken to mean Jesus. The Bible did not exist. We can trace the history of when the Bible was compiled and it wasn't at the beginning of the world.

Third: Even the writers of the Bible didn't claim every word was from God. Check out 1 Corinthians 7:12.

pcamps: The written Word/Holy Bible is God. If the Word of God doesn't make any sense to you, and you're not a believer, that's fine. The Bible says the carnal man can't understand the things/Word of God; the Word is "foolish" to unsaved/carnal people, since things are spiritually discerned.

virtue_summer: It doesn't matter whether your "Christian" friends disagree with Biblical mandates, or not. It's not about peoples' opinions; they're not God. It's about what God says, and if they're speaking against anything that's Biblical, they're wrong. If they're saying the Christian doctrine itself is idolatry, that's an abomination. That should tell you something...So, I guess they make their own rules.

FYI: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God=the Trinity. Jesus is part of the Trinity, right? So, you're partially right. God is the Word, so God has existed from the beginning of time, and He inspired the Word to be written.

And, when Paul was giving his own OPINION, he emphasized that and made sure this was very clear. He didn't try to replace the Word of God with HIS OPINION. Great example. Learn from it...

pcamps: You're right. There are many "carnal-minded Christians". Carnality cancels out Christianity. The Bible says that everyone that says, "Lord, Lord..." will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven to address such spiritual fraud. Every person, cult, or denomimation that represent themselves as Christians are not Christians. That's why we have to know God/the Word for ourselves, so we won't/can't be misled.

The short time I went to church one of the women there divorced her husband. He refused to stop looking at internet porn. She was fed up. The pastor had the nerve to tell her to "sit down and behave herself and let god handle it." I am happy she left. So were all the other women! She says she feels so free and relieved to be out of an emotionally abusive situation.

NO ONE should be with someone who is abusive. NO ONE. I don't care what religion you practice, I don't care what color your skin is, I don't care what your sexual orientation is...none of that is relavent. NO ONE should be abused.

From some of these posts god doesn't really seem to care about the abuse. Only that his rules are followed no matter what. Kind of control freakish if you ask me. I've never known such cold hearted people!
