We are to be emptied of our old life, and filled with His. You cannot fill a cup with water for example, until you first empty it of it's previous content. Because He wants purity (meaning without mixture), He will purge the vessel to assure that it is indeed empty before filling it with the New content.

Also keeping the letter of the OT Law (Fasting) and the Yeshua, the Bridegroom, brings in the New Covenant... what was given to a few (Israel) is now open to many (Gentiles) through Jesus Christ

I recall a show I watched that explain how the bottles back then were made of skins. The fermentation process would expand the skins. So once the skins were stretch they really couldn't stretch any further without breaking. So if you had a bottle that had already been stretch then you wouldn't want to put new wine (still fermenting) into that bottle because the old bottle couldn't handle it and would break and spill. Therefore, you had to use new bottles (skins) that could handle the exlansion of the fermentation process.

so then, the old body before accepting YeHoshua is unable to take the process of the new Spirit of Yehoshua, the process would burst the spiritual body and all could be lost.
