Default Can you be saved and read any Bible other than the KJV 1611?

I am not a Christian, but I have heard from many fundamentalists and evangelical types that using any Bible other than the King James Version 1611 is a sin and that no person who is really saved would use them. Is that true? A simple google search had provided me with many Christian references suggesting that Bibles other than the KJV are written by Satan and those reading them will go to Hell for it.

New International Perversion

I can't find the Chick Tract, but I know I have seen one that states that if you don't use the KJV then you aren't saved.

It's not just NIV either though. The NKJV, the RSV, the NRSV, ESV, etc. I have heard on many occassions from Christians that people reading these versions are not really Christians and are going to Hell.

I always thought being a Christian meant having faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It wasn't until recent years that I found out that you have to read a certain translation of the Bible, along with many other new requirements Christians are telling people.

Extremists come in every religion. It should be no shock that Christianity has its share of them as well. The majority of Christians, though, have no problem with whatever Bible translation someone might care to read. They just want people to read it.

I think the first century believers read the KJV lmao.Daft as it seems i am sure there are christians who actually believe the KJV has been around that long, and its probably why ET is so readily and easily believed because Paul preached from and studied the KJV.

What's even funnier is that King James, who commissioned the translation, was gay.

Oh man. I hope that god is not so petty as to care which translation people read. Was King James really gay?!

Mr Guttenburg helped us out in the 1400's ( although most of us were still illiterate ) , yet I suspect many were "saved" prior to that.

More man made garbage. The ONLY requirement to be saved is to ask Jesus into your heart and forgive you of your sins.
