I don't think, because one is Christian, that the bible is to be taken as the only source of divine inspiration.
That is a belief represented by just one segment of Christians, and there are others.
Time and again, we receive information that the bible has been compiled by men and verses have been added for political expediancy of the day.
I think prayer and soul searching and a willingness to accept all of Gods people without judgement is important.
There is the spirit (original intent) of the law and the letter of the law. I believe we should be guided by the spirit rather than dogma.

Catholic priests can be gay...of course they take a vow of celibacy so I guess it's different.

The dean of the Episcopal cathedral in Seattle is gay.

The former bishop of the Diocese of Olympia was divorced.

Christ never mentioned homosexuality, but he had a lot to say about divorce. Why don't I see questions about divorced Christians as much as I do about gay Christians?

Because people decide what they do not like, not what God doesn't like.
Then they try to force it down everyone else's throat by
using the bible as a weapon.

There is a saying that there is a way that looks good to man, but leads to destruction.
Perhaps these people, who refuse to see the mote in their own eyes, are the ones it is referring to.

Someday I will figure out why what a man does with that brain that's between his legs is more important than what he does with the one between his ears.

And while I am at it, maybe I'll figure out why someone else's sex is so important to so many. To me, mundane things like loyalty, honesty, integrity, unselfishness, just to name a few, are more important than whether or not he thinks about women all the time.

Of course a gay man can become a priest. But if he goes around wearing a sign saying "I am gay, you want to make something of it?" then, he's probably going to not be welcomed in all parishes.

so its just the episcopalians that let gay men become priests

I think they got caught up in things and should not have started out lying in the first place.
I think gay men became priests. Well, any male-only club is going to attract gay men, no?
Then you think of it, this was a good place, from their perspective, because people never asked them who they were dating and why they were not married.
They did have to keep this a secret, though.
Then, pedophiles started showing in their midst.
Well, in the early days, they probably figured they could be cured, and a lot of them were sent for reprocessing (so I heard) to a parish somewhere in Mexico.
We know how that worked out.
Probably, they just dug themselves in deeper, and now the pedophiles probably threatened to 'out' the gays, and all they could do was cover-up, cover-up, cover-up; until it all hit the fan.

So, these were human errors in thinking with big consequences.

Just as we could not 'cure' gays, I doubt if we can 'cure' pedophiles.

Gays keep to themselves and hurt no one. Consenting adults and all that.
So they are no danger to society, and if the men use protection, not to themselves either. God bless them for all the horrors we have put them through.

I don't know what to do about pedophiles. We just cannot have them running about in society. I don't want to kill people for the way they were born and I don't want them living where families are because the temptation is too great. I want them to be identifiable and locatable.

Perhaps, in the future, with the study of the human gene, we will be able to find a solution.
