Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it God that is eternal?

Its funny that people think of Jesus as eternal when no such words came out of his mouth (not even paraphrased ones) but John says the word became flesh and all of the sudden we have Jesus is eternal and is God....
Jesus said that we are brothers to him and can be just like him... I guess that means you are looking forward to being a part of God yourself.

Well, that is another thread.

My concern is that if christians can't agree on what they are saved from then perhaps you are all wrong. Perhaps Jesus' message applied to the living, not the dead.

Being saved means acquiring the Christ Consciousness. With this consciousness, the ability to sin and the encrustments of sins of our parents are no longer there. When we have raised our souls to a higher frequency to that of Gods frequency. It doesn't matter if it's here or in the spirit world. It only matters that you acquire that frequency.
Become as little children. Always questioning and looking at the world with a pure heart and mind. Never holding grudges or thinking one is better or more important. Always striving to love others no matter what belief or religion. Always being centered to doing the will of God through Love. God's love has no opposite and when we love the same way, there is no negative. We are then pure and perfect.
When we raise our frequency to that of God's, with a new soul (new heart for biblers), we will then be at-one with God. No one can get to God in any other way.

In the beginning, WAS the Word.

What this means is that at the beginning the Word already was....

Thus Word is not bound by time and is eternal in that He is not bound to our time .

Unfortunately, the WORD is not a human being. The Word of God is not a person! The word became flesh is not a reference to the Word becoming human. The greek word used is: ginomai and is translated as arrived, arose, appeared, accomplished, became, began, been made...etc. So which translated word is right?

Did the word become flesh or did the word accomplish flesh, began flesh, been made flesh, arrived flesh, appeared in flesh...

Anyway the point is that every prophet carried the word of God... so it is best translated the flesh carried the word. IMHO

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Jesus purified us from all sin... that is being saved.. purified all by his blood and by carrying the Word of God. 1 John 1:10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

To John it was obvious that everyone, including the Christians, would sin but he reiterates that it is Jesus who speaks to the Father on our behalf.

What do you suppose he says?

If it's a believer he would say.. I died for their sins and they knew me.

If it's an unbeliever he would say.. I died for their sins and they refused to know me.

If it's a person who has never had the chance to know him, he would say.. I died for their sins and they never knew me.

My problem with fundamental Christianity is that they focus on the second half of what Christ will say on their behalf. Isn't it the first part that God cares about? The debt owed to the Father was paid in all three cases.

Read through Hebrews 8 and keep this in mind: The new covenant God made with humanity (Israel first, then gentiles) was that he would "put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts."

The WORD would BE CARRIED TO FLESH.. Written on their minds and hearts. We all carry the word (that does not make us God BTW).

The covenant promised also that it was not like the Old but God would "forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

Jesus came to bring in the new covenant and intercedes in it. God said he would forgive their (the people who the message came to first Israel, then the gentiles) wickedness and their sins don't count against them as in the Old Covenant.

Heb. 8:13 By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

The old covenant had regulations to worship in a specific manner but the new has Jesus as High Priest who sacrificed once for all.

Jesus is the High Priest of the new covenant which frees you from your sins because the old way was "the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper."

"he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption."

Jesus speaks on our behalf because "he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant."

So either you believe the first covenant only applied to the Israelites, in which case it seems Jesus died only for them at that time (we know this is not true)

or

you believe we all sin under the first covenant so that all sins are covered by the Blood.

Jesus will say that he died for you and your sins are covered when he speaks on your behalf. Perhaps there is a reward for being friends with Christ (knowing him while alive) but your sins are covered by his one sacrifice.

Any opinions out there as to what Christians are saved from?

Who said that we won't physically die? what post was that?
If I didn't love the savior Christ Jesus with all my heart and soul,
I would still choose Jesus, it's got to be something priceless, because I never seen so many normal people hate anything or anyone this much, why would a person waste so much effort and risk their health (hatred is toxic) on something that is as futile and insignificant as Christianity?
If I used nothing else but my common since, I would think that something or someone is a threat, and the work of the cross has satan mad and jealous as he'' (no pun intended), most people don't hurt people unless they are doing something pretty drastic to them..
These boards are appearing very drastic and desperate and angry and (YUCK)
how can anyone have love in their heart for a s/o and hate at the same time??
CREEPY!! it just doesn't make a lick of since, I ignore people that I know that are not a threat .
Just thinking
Well God Bless You

God created man in his own image a creature so deveined that it would have "choice" and "free will" since the beginning of time our free will has led us to sin. A perfect world was created for Adam and Eve, yet this was not enough. It is never enough because we have a thirst that cannot be quenched; we want something more (a right to choose) A thirst that some do not recognize or know how to find; we long for worldly positions like, money and, power. This leads to sin like greed, covenant and ect. The thirst that man desires is a big secret that Christians have been trying to explain, what we long for is the love of God, and it is a free gift "thanks to Jesus Christ". And until your thirst has been quenched you will continue to search. Give your heart to God and through his son Jesus Christ he will show you the way, he is the truth the way and the life. If you still feel I am just another soap box preacher and you are more intelligent than me I hope for you sake you are RIGHT.

But what if God has changed His mind?
It's not His mind, but His will which is spoken and finished! God knows when to use mind vs will. Mind is not big enough to take even one little hurdle. The problem is never in the mind but in the will. There is sin in the life, and a man does not want to turn to God; he does not want to believe God. God gives you a free offering, its yours for the taking. He just says, take this step: Believe and trust in Me (God), and I, Christ, who am the Way, will give you my Holy Spirit and show you the proper step to take! Meyers (2013) wrote, "He gave us 1 John 1:9. Just ask for forgiveness and see the Blood of Jesus washing away your sin. Don’t give up! Continue claiming what belongs to you (your mind and your thinking belong to you), and Jesus will help you overcome." God explained love and wisdom the wisest man, Solomon. I encourage you to read the fourth chapter of Proverbs and ask God what He wants to say to you.
"I will teach you wisdom's ways and lead you in straight paths" -Proverbs 4:11
