You would probably hate my family too. Every year during harvest season, we sacrifice goats, cows and bulls in the open field in huge numbers. The carcass is left in the open for several hours with incense and flowers. Then it's burnt into ashes, with the smokes reaching up to the skies. It's symbolically called "Abel's Sacrifice" in Eastern Christianity.

I guess this is what unites Islam and Early Christianity - animal sacrifices. It's an act of offering the best unto the Almighty. Livestock is costly and it measures familial growth in the East. Muslims are more devout, they give away their entire livestock and re-rear them for the next Ramadan.
I know a family who are 'avid' church goers. Yet they are probably the most abusive 'to their animals' that I know of....Please explain !!
I'd say they are just plain old jerks. If it makes you feel any better most Christians abuse their children too by beating them in the name of spare the rod spoil the child.
I can call myself Christian and embrace satan. So, you see I am not saying that Christians live a perfect life, but you should be able to tell the difference between a Christian who is living their life to please the Lord, and the difference in someone living and looking like the world, while still calling themselve Christians without living by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
There is a difference between someone who listens to the Holy Spirit's guidance and someone who does not. You will tell a difference.

What divides Christians and the rest is that there's a sense of inner voice that doing something is wrong, and there is always the feeling of endless regret. But of course, we have people who go on a shagging marathon and have no regrets and even feel cool about it. That's a different matter.

LOL, just a thought, all it is. I do see and I see people who are calling themselves Christians who are not following Christ.
I see people who believe they are the true Christians because they follow the heinous literal descriptions and supposed rules of Jehovah who speak and act in ways Jesus would not recognize as following His example. I'll take my chances . . . you can explain "tough love" to Jesus when you see Him.
You see this is the problem. Did the OP ever detail the "alleged" harsh treatment of the animals??
