I know a family who are 'avid' church goers. Yet they are probably the most abusive 'to their animals' that I know of....Please explain !!

Christians should never claim to be "Better" than the lost..

We are forgiven, but not always better.

Thus your friends are sinners, (Welcome to the club) and so they do belong in the church as all members of the Christian church start out as sinners.
And if it is true that they dont handle their animals well, thats too bad, but has nothing to do with being forgiven.

Being a Christian does not turn you into a perfect person overnight.
Being conformed to the likeness of God takes time....takes a life time and more...

You would probably hate my family too. Every year during harvest season, we sacrifice goats, cows and bulls in the open field in huge numbers. The carcass is left in the open for several hours with incense and flowers. Then it's burnt into ashes, with the smokes reaching up to the skies. It's symbolically called "Abel's Sacrifice" in Eastern Christianity.

Christians are the best people in the world and the worst people in the world. All unbelievers fall somewhere in between. Just because someone believes in Jesus Christ for salvation does not mean that he is going to advance in his spiritual life. Most people who accept Christ as Savior say in effect, ''Thank you God for saving me, and I'll see you in eternity. But now I've got my life to live and can't be bothered by you.'' In other words, people put God on the back burner and give everything else in life priority over God.

Others want to come to God in their own way. They want to worship God in their own way, instead of the way that God expects us to worship Him. Christians are people, and people come in all varieties.

And many people who think of themselves as Christians aren't even saved. Just going to Church for instance doesn't make one a believer in Christ. Look up my thread concerning a recent Barna survey about people who consider themselves to be Christians and yet have the most screwball ideas concerning Christianity.

Only a relatively few believers will choose to be disciples of Christ. Matthew 13:18-23 speaks to this.

What a confusing post !!

religion is, was, originally a way of controlling people ( I'm a Brit and this is how I understand it, Henry V11 is proof of this) It has the ability of delivering 'hope' but nothng else..My personal experience of 'so called' christian people has been " negative" to say the least !!!

I have found that evil people use it to mask thier true selves !!!
