Many people don't like certain aspects of their job. BUT, either you do it anyway, or you lose your job. That's how it works for most of America anyway. I think if he doesn't want to perform his job he should quit, or someone else should relieve him of his duties.

This is so you do not bring shame onto the name of Christ and onto other Christians.

Even if you are called to go clean a bathroom in a strip joint, you go and do your best....

If you do your best, then you are a credit to your faith.

However if you have a job where you have to help people in need, and you have a problem with two people that have come before you seeking help,,,then the answer is to still help...or get a different job!

But turning away people, or just doing your job in a very poor manner brings shame on you, your Lord, and on the church...

Had this Justice Of The Peace done his job, he would not be pointed to on forums and attacks against Christians would not be sparked from his poor actions...
I dont always agree with you.....but you are dead on right in my view on this subject.
If you are a justice of the peace and a couple wants to marry according to state law,you marry them and keep your opinions to yourself. You know the job requirements when you sign up.
If you don't want to serve drinks...dont be a bartender.
If you dont want to cook for black people...dont open a resturaunt
If you dont want to do abortions...dont apply at the abortion clinic
If you dont want to sell birthcontrol pills....dont work at the pharmacy

Its really not hard to get a job that doesnt cause conflict with one beliefs.I read the link and another article on the subject this morning and nowhere was it stated that his belief was 'religion based' anyway. Most christian churches in 2009 would happily marry interracial couples....in this day and age it is a great blessing to find couples who wish to be married at all.

But Fundie, the license was denied by a justice. Not a church priest. Court justices are all whacked out, one way or the other. This is one side and there's another side which okays abortion.

Yeah it's really me! Denying a person service because you are a Christian and they are a sinner is just silly. Their own book says that all are sinners. They'd have to deny service to everyone! Including themselves.

But you don't give a rat's bum about it, Dani. Why use it to your advantage?

The story where Jesus asks a lady at the well for a drink should be our guide.
If you remember that story, she was not only a non-Jew, she bedded down with a lot of guys.
Jesus did not feel he had to make a political or religious statement by ignoring her...She was already used to Jews ignoring her. The shock to her was a Jew talking to her.

#3 - Im always right...
I just dont always look right in this dim computer light....
Don't count on it alan!
