I believe one of the points of this life is to discover who our Creator is. To discover His nature. If you were born in the light, how would you ever truly understand what it was, if there was no contrast? I think this world is temporary (what is seen is temporary, what is unseen is eternal) to teach us by contrast what/who God really is. God is love. We need to learn. I also think that evil needs to just be exhausted once and for all, shown for what it truly is. What is evil? Ignorance of love. Since God IS love.... basically it's an ignorance of God. Turn on a light in a dark room, what happens? The darkness flees.

I'll say it again. God doesn't see labels. He sees the heart.
Some of those claiming to know God, know very little of Him.
Some who claim to NOT know God, actually know a lot more about Him than they think.

For me, having faith is believing the best about God. And knowing that I'm safe in His hands. That no matter what happens... I'm going to get through it. That no matter what happens, I need not FEAR. Not for myself, not for any human being on this planet... because I have faith in His goodness, in His mercy. I have faith that His plan for us is 100% perfect and not a single person is outside of that plan. He IS the Good Shepherd who leaves the 99 in order to go in search of the ONE that is lost. This is why I have faith. Because HE is good. Because HE is love. He's not just lovING. HE IS LOVE. Perfect love casts out all fear.
There is no fear in love. This is a very profound statement. Most people say it flippantly and don't really think about it. Why is there no fear in LOVE? Because there doesn't NEED to be.

peace.
Priceless....simply priceless

I think, no matter what our view of which is greater, this must be our focus - our goal - our prize. For what is the end, if we don't know our Father? To be one with Him as a bride is to her beloved - that is what this Covenant is about.

You may know that "the children of God are led by the Spirit of God", and hunger for such love and power in your life, but why? Is it simply to obey and serve Him, or is it that you might know His heart?

Martha wanted everything taken care of, but Mary pleased Him by simply being close.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. Martha was concerned with "worldly or carnal" things while Mary concerned herself with "God".

Jn 17:3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Some people just don't get it...and unfortunately...some may never get it in their lifetimes.

Dear June,

As a Christian looks forward to the coming day of the Lord, when Christ will reture to separate the wicked from the righteous and to gather His saints together in the air, we must MAKE EVERY EFFORT to be found SPOTLESS and BLAMELESS in Him. The Greek word used to describe "make every effort" means "intense effort." We must continually strive - concentrate our efforts - on being righteous as Jesus is righteous.

God's Word declares, "...There is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10); and that "...all our righteousness are as filthy rags..." (Isaiah 64:6). Paul, in writing to the Romans declared, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight..." (Romans 3:20).

So, how do we "put on" the breastplate of righteousness? According to His plan and purpose to have a people who would be set apart unto Him, holy and blameless, God created Adam and Eve in His own image, in righteousness and holiness. Adam and Eve were perfect. Having been created in God's image, they were holy and righteous. Their nature was pure, free from blemish, free from contamination. Holiness and righteousness were as natural to Adam and Eve's nature as man's nature is now to sin. When Adam and Eve sinned, they fell from this position of righteousness. Their Godlike nature was defiled, contaminated. Man became a slave to Satan, sin and unrighteousness. He was alienated from God.

To reconcile man to Himself, God made a covenant with him. He established the Law through Moses and required man to walk in obedience to all His commandments. To break one law was to be guilty of all. If man obeyed the Law, he received God's blessing. If He disobeyed, he was cursed. Man in his fallen, sinful state was unable to fulfill the requirements of the Law.

God, Who is altogether holy, just and pure - the Source of all righteousness - saw the sinfulness of the people that He had chosen and set apart for Himself, to walk holy and blameless before Him, He saw their wickedness, how they continually turned their backs on Him. How they followed their idols, continually forsaking and disobeying His Law. He saw that it was impossible for man, in His fallen state, to walk holy and righteously before Him, to fulfill the requirements of the Law.

God, in His infinite love and mercy, had pity upon His people. He promised to cleanse them, to take away their sinful nature and place His Spirit within them so that they would HAVE THE ABILITY to walk holy and blameless before Him IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDMENTS.

"A new heart also will I give to you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh: and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them." (Ezekiel 36:26-27).

Not only did God plan for man to be holy and blameless, He gave him the ABILITY! What would you think of a God Who would require His people to do something that was impossible for them to do? GOD GAVE MAN THE ABILITY TO BE HOLY. In essence, He said, "I'm going to remove the old sinful nature within you. I'm going to put My Spirit within you that will ENABLE you to be holy - TO WALK IN OBEDIENCE to Me." God said: "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more" (Hebrews 8:12).

In accordance with His purpose and plan to have a people...children who would be created in His own image...who would reflect His righteousness and holiness...

...He sent Jesus.

I hope this helps in your understanding.

In Christ,
Verna.

Thank You Father God, for your mercy and Your grace.

Verna-

While June understands what you wrote, above, isn't it based on OT 'law?' --With the exception of your very last line, about sending Jesus. What June is essentially asking is that based on her understanding, the way in which one would thereby come to 'know' Christ and all that he stood for would not be through the contractual, law-based dynamic highlighted in the OT.

--At least that is what June thought. -She's not even sure exactly what she means in the above by saying 'come to know Christ, etc.' as she isn't asking a personal question; rather, she is trying to figure out, account for the discrepancies in what she has heard.

Thanks in advance!

C'mon!

That doesn't make sense, even to an atheist!

...Of course you have the 'same God.' Just how many 'gods' are there?
