They dont just abandon logic, they abandon compassion and mercy as well ...
Jesus told us who the wicked servants are ( Mat 18:23-25) ... I would rather err on the side of compassion and mercy then on the side of condemnation and judgment of others to everlasting torture.

The phrase, "everlasting torture"
Did you find that in the Bible , or make it up all on your own?

Torment, or torture ... The words in the bible are kolasis and bosanizo or one of their derivatives when speaking of the judgments of God on the creation ... These words mean correction and purification or testing rightly, but they are not translated that way in most English bibles. And they are not understood to mean that by most Christians. The fact is many Christians if not most believe in everlasting torment or torture ... What else would you call be burned with literal fire for ever?
The truth is that the fire of Gods wrath which is derived from his jealous love is for the purpose of purifying and reconciling and teaching righteousness and ultimately for the spiritual healing/renewal of those whose natural creature is destroyed thereby ... But unfortunately the violence, greed and hate of many Christians will not allow them to see the truth of it.
Selah ...

No, just the phrase you used "Everlasting torture" is what I request the source?
Is this found in the Bible?, or did you invent it because it works better with your preconceived ideas ?

My preconceived ideas? Are you saying that being burned alive by fire for ever and ever is not torture?
But if you must know, the word basanizo is defined as torture by the strongs exhaustive concordance, and was used by Greek speaking Hebrews in ancient times to refer to torture. They were mocking the idea of purification and justifying their actions by doing so, but they did nonetheless, as do many Christians today.
Basanzio - Strongs definition ...
1) to test (metals) by the touchstone, which is a black siliceous stone used to test the purity of gold or silver by the colour of the streak produced on it by rubbing it with either metal
2) to question by applying torture
3) to torture
4) to vex with grievous pains (of body or mind), to torment
5) to be harassed, distressed
a) of those who at sea are struggling with a head wind
I believe it is obvious that the word is referring to purification, but most Christians would not agree ...

Alan, that depends on how you define the word basanizo ... Clearly many people define the words as torture ... Did you not read the definition of the word i just posted from the strongs? The bible was not written in English ... So you tell me what you believe the translation of the word basanizo is ...
I dont believe it should be torture ... or torment ... What else do you want me to say ... I use the term not because i believe it is found in the bible,, but because other people do. You know i don't believe in eternal Torture, or eternal torment ... However you want to refer to it. What is your point? I am not the one who defends the doctrine of ET ... I believe in UR ... You know that.
