Problem is, there's a lot of politics in science these days, so we can't trust the scientists.
And there are other scientists who say global warming is a scam. But they are ignored.
That's a disingenuous paradox for unbelievers. They completely trust scientists about the theory of evolution, but scientists can't be relied upon for their theory of global warming. That's nothing more than cherry-picking.
Of course it's a ruse, millions of years ago there were lots more humans on the planet burning fossil fuels than there are now. Well, except for when it was just Adam and Eve in the garden, but the temperature in the garden of Eden did not vary much, allowing for year-round fruits to grow on trees and for the two people to move about in their nakedness without having to burn anything. So yes, it is highly questionable that the world's current population of 6.6 billion people are burning more and spewing more CO2 into the atmosphere than ever before. And all these weather events that we are currently experiencing, like record snowstorms, etc, which they say is due to more water vapor in the atmosphere due to warming oceans.... just silly. And the studies that are finding that trees in old forests are growing at a much higher rate than ever before in their lifetime due to the greater amount of CO2 in the air.... hogwash, I bet someone's just fertilizing them.
"Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated. It may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicenter and could also be a threat to more distant coasts," the center said.
The U.S. west coast tsunami warning center said it did not expect a tsunami along the west of the U.S. or Canada but was continuing to monitor the situation.
The largest earthquake ever recorded struck the same area of Chile on May 22, 1960. The magnitude-9.5 quake killed 1,655 people and left 2 million homeless. The tsunami that it caused killed people in Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines and caused damage to the west coast of the United States.
It's not the same people, really, things are beginning to increase in intensity. Pray for the people of Chile. May God have mercy on us all.
Betsey you are PROVING the point as I did myself in another thread. These earthquakes are NOT new even in intensity. 50 years ago they had TWO powerful ones and they even had a powerful one as recent as 1985. I am sure there were others years before that, centuries before that and eons before that and they will continue to have them long after you and I are gone. How do you think the tallest mountains in the western Hemisphere straddling their country got there? Magic? No - earthquakes, nature's natural shaping tool.

The difference is that they have increased in the last 15 years, and populations along the fault lines have increased exponentially over the last 100 yrs.
We are surely to be more effected locally and globally to this increase in disaster activity, and it is prophesied as such.

But do we know for sure that 1,000 years ago (for example) this flow did not follow a similar ebb? Fact is, the earth ages and recreates itself internally, which in the case of earthquakes, causes changes externally. All over the planet this occurs daily even if we don't see it. The great majority are too small and insignificant to be newsworthy. Some are not even registered as far as I understand, however, with technological advances, it stands to reason there would be a PERCEIVED increase. In addition with human populations growing and growing in poor, underdeveloped areas, the loss of life from natural disasters can be catastrophic. This is an easy prediction for anyone with common sense to make.

godspeed,

While correct, it is hardly an impressive prediction. I lived in South Florida for 21 years and scientist have been predicting that at some point in time a massive hurricane will decimate some part of either coast of that state and the destruction will be disastrous. Well of course! There are billions upon billions of dollars worth of real estate right ON the coast itself. While human loss might be small (relatively speaking), if Florida was Bangladesh or even Haiti, loss of life from a 150 MPH hurricane with a direct hit would kill thousands upon thousands. No great stretch of reasoning needed here.
In any event, let me repeat again. The New Testament did NOT predict FREQUENCY or INTENSITY of earthquakes. It only predicted there would be "earthquakes in different places." That is hardly an impressive prophecy ESPECIALLY in the earthquake zone that is the western Middle East and Mediterranean Basin long know for seismic and volcanic activity.
Well Insane, is this a specific enough prophecy for you?
Revelation 6:12-14
12I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
When this one comes true, will it be enough to convince you, considering you're still alive and survive it, that is??

I'm not sure if you realize that is nothing but metaphor. If ANY star falls on to the earth, there won't be an earth here to be in the [alleged] fulfillment of the rest of the book of Revelation even the rest of the chapter you are quoting.
I'm sorry Ilene but while there will be earthquakes, lunar and solar eclipses as there ALWAYS have been, I'm not sure I will ever see or anyone will ever see the sky roll up like a scroll.

You're not answering my questions today.....when it does happen will you believe everything you've been denying?
It's not a metaphor, Insane.
