Interesting scripture. I think maybe even profound. And especially timely for the condition of the Church.

I do not believe that the statement was condemning in the letter Apostle Paul wrote about the very small church he had in his day. He was not condemning people for not seeking the things of God, But he was saying like ``Put aside the things of Jesus Christ here. We all seek the things of our personal needs``I always like to see things with No comdemnation, for there is no condemnation from the Holy Spirit. Jesus said for`` I have not come to condemn, but to give life and more abundence``

But He also said:

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

I think it has something to do with separating good from evil (overcoming evil with good) and also something to do with separating the spirit from the flesh.

Who was he talking to?

In context I would say that Paul had nobody at that present time to send to them because the ones available did not seek the things of Jesus Christ but their own things (maybe their jobs and families held their attention and they had said they did not want to go to minister in a different city)

Php 2:19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
Php 2:20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
Php 2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
Php 2:22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

There is nothing wrong with the church, the bride of Christ is intact, beautiful waiting to be wed.

I'm thinking that Paul is talking about not having a submitting spirit. And instead having pride, ego, etc. Like to hear what everyone has to say.

Marks and HotinAZ will be looking for your posts and thoughts on this.

I would agree.. I don't think it means nobody ever seeks Jesus Christ or what is Jesus Christ's though. That verse is related to the previous verses.
