Anyway, I think it's a good trend. Getting away from the shopping madness and commercialism. Of course to each their own, and if anyone chooses to shop till they drop, knock yourself out!
I have found that the most memorable and meaningful holidays were the ones where my family and I volunteered at a shelter or dropped off donations to a children's hospital.

I agree that the spirit within should be the one to tell you. I doubt there will be any mandate or "law".
