I am conflicted and with only 2 shopping days before Christmas I don't know if I should get my slaves anything for Christmas. Are you?

Now I know you might say I shouldn't own slaves, but given how so many in our society use the Bible to condemn homosexuality and quote the Bible as truth, I decided to follow the teachings of Paul (Ephesians 6:5-9) and get me some slaves.

My wife thought it is proper to get them something, but I reminded her of 1 Tim 2:12 and she properly shut up.

So my Christian friends - what are you doing?

What are you talking about? You really need to study the use of the word "slave" and how it was used back then

Are you saying that the Bible needs to be examined in terms of context and meaning? i.e. it may not be true what we read about slaves, about women shutting up, about homosexuality being a sin?

Please tell me it ain't so - please tell me that the Bible is perfect and not subject to interpretation.

Dude the bible is not a 20th century novel written by a 20th century American author. Slaves were "employees" back then

Ephesians 4:25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

If you do not have any "slaves", then it would be sarcasm.

Making an indirect point about homosexuality is not serving the Lord Jesus Christ nor helping sinners in seeing their need for Him. Repent.

So where is this guide as to what is right and what is wrong in the Bible? Is it on the internet anywhere or do I have to become a rightwing, evangelical whack job to understand?

My point about homosexuality wasn't indirect - it was DIRECT. The intent was to point out the hypocrisy of how my fundie friends interpret the Bible and live their life.
