Some of you probably already know this, many others probably do not. I originally heard this from Chuck Missler on a television program. Hidden away in the Genealogy of Genesis 5 is a summary of the Gospel. A promise of the coming of the Messiah. These are the names of Adam and his descendants and their meaning in the English.

Name----------English Meaning

Adam-----------Man (is)

Seth------------Appointed

Enoch-----------Mortal

Kenan-----------Sorrow; (but)

Mahalael--------The Blessed God

Jared-----------shall come down

Enoch-----------Teaching

Methuselah------His death shall bring

Lamech---------The Despairing

Noah------------comfort, rest

The roots can be interpreted in a different way, but nevertheless, here in Genesis is the Gospel summarized.

It's pretty amazing isn't it? As Chuck Missler said, there is no way a group of Jewish rabbis contrived to hide an expression of the Christian Gospel within a genealogy of their venerated Torah. The fingerprints of the Holy Spirit are all over this thing.

By the way, you might be interested in listening to Dr. Missler on his 66/40 radio show at

Koinonia House - The Ministry of Chuck and Nancy Missler

Each week he does a number of broadcasts on different Biblical subjects. Each one is about 27 minutes in length.

Yes.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life! He who believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live.

I listened to a lot of Chuck Misler's tapes. He actually was the one who got me started on typology and deeper meanings of Biblical stories. The problem I have with him is he only divulges so much and charges a tidy sum for his tapes, which in itself is not the problem, but when I purchased several at a time, for which ou rec'd a discount, I found so much of the same information given on each tape. As they were recordings of lectures he gave at various places, I understand it, but maybe he should have made tapes specifically for people buying them and then he would not have to repeat information on so many of his tapes.

Anyway, I did find him a good speaker and full of interesting ideas.
