How interesting. I had not thought of Napoleon this way. Guess this is something not force fed in school these days. I never heard it in mine.

"I know men; and I tell you that Jesus Christ is not a man. Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires, and the gods of other religons. That resemblance does not exist. There is between Christianity and whatever other religons the distance of infinity....

Everything in Christ astonishes me. His spirit overawes me, and his will confounds me. Between him and wwhoever else in the world, there is no possible term of comparison. He is truly a being by himself. His ideas and sentiments, the truth which he announces, his manner of convincing, are not explained either by human organization or by the nature of things....

The nearer I approach, the more carefully I examine, everything is above me--- everything remains grand, or a grandeur which overpowers. His religon is a revelation from an intelligence which certainly is not that of man....

One can absolutely find nowhere, but in him alone, the imitation or the example of his life....

I search in vain in history to find the similar to Jesus Christ, or anything which can approach gospel. Neither history, nor humanity, nor the ages, nor nature, offer me anything with which I am able to compare it or to explain it. Here everything is extraordinary."

Napoleon as cited by Vernon C. Grounds, The Reason for Our Hope (Chicago; Moody Press, 1945), p37

While some would contend with this as I always assumed Napoleon to be some dominating warlord. I guess it just didnt interest me enough to study this, but if these are his words, truely that is an insight.

That is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Makes me wonder if there is a documentation of this search: was it done by himself or did he had a group of researchers scouring the globe to help him with the search? I wonder if he had kept a journal?

I do not know. I stumbled across this one. I do not know if I would have much time to study Napoleon as Im sure he has critics as well as supporters, but if even the most wicked can be saved in Christ could this not even be a testiment to a man who died in exile on an island. Perhaps at the end he repented. I truly do not know.

Give me a break. Napoleon was going by the same info we have now. He never met the guy. You could say the same thing about Winnie the Pooh, or any other fictional character.

Napoleon was just like every other demented war-mongering fool. He killed innocent men which, unless I recall incorrectly is breaking one of the Big 10 (commandments, that is), so seems like he has nothing much of value to say about anything pertaining to religion.

I suppose to each his own, but if then I challenge you teach this in a public school to children. As you clearly state what they state I submit to you that it is apparently difficult to accept something such as this. Or you can be knee jerk either way it speaks for itself.

Someday, we will know.

I did not mean to prompt a research on him. It was just a question if you had known off hand or not.

Jesus Christ is the One we should proclaim as we are to continue to grow in the knowledge of Him so that our love may abound yet more and more.
