This link shows among other things that Sheol/Hades is not merely the grave as universalists contend, and that Gehenna is not merely the garbage dump outside of Jerusalem, again, as universalists claim. As well it reveals universalism as a heresy. A perversion of the Gospel. For your edification;

I especially like what was said here:

Quote:
There are no second chances offered in scripture. What would be the point of warning every man of the judgment to come? – Daniel 12:2; Acts 24:25; John 16:8; Luke 16:24-28 – there is never a parable where a proper name is used!; Hebrews 9:27 judgment, NOT second chance!

Human emotions and “reasoning” may view it as unfair for God to eternally punish man’s sins – committed in a short lifetime. This thinking grossly underestimates the seriousness of sin and makes light of Christ’s cross-work!

I thank God that whenever He or my mother and father punished me or chastised me that i lived to see another day because great are the mercies of God and that He understand that my frame is dust and thank God though my parents were unbelievers they understood love far above what any fundamentalist could ever imagine.

14 David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men." 2 Sam 24

This universalism is the "one world religion" which we knew would one day arrive with full force. It does not have much to do with Christianity, since it promises universal salvation to all Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists...it is so convenient that even an atheist will accept it. Why not? They won't have to admit that God is in control, they won't have to humble themselves and admit they are sinners and they won't have to ask for forgiveness or for Christ to come to their lives. It is a perfect One World Religion for Satan to use.

Here is a great illustration to support the Biblical view of afterlife.

Finn_Jarber, yes Universalism has nothing to do with today's "Christianity" but it has everything to do with the message of Jesus Christ as the Good News towards ALL. "Christianity" today is a message of hate. It constantly wants to preach that one group is superior over another group based on a "choice" that someone made (As if they could choose God). It is more appealing to atheist because "Christianity" has tossed many of those atheist to their "hell" because those atheist can't rationalize an Almighty God that isn't mighty enough to remove sin from the worse sinner.

Hades and Sheol refer to the same place (Hades is Greek and Sheol is Hebrew). They refer to the region below the surface such as the grave. Gehenna is the place where the children were tried by fire. God uses Gehenna to signify spiritual fire. Did you realize that God makes His ministers flames of fire? Did you realize that the apostles when they had received the Spirit of God had flames of fire upon them? And yet this Gehenna is seen as the Lake of Fire. Followers of Christ were baptized in lakes. Jesus called His Apostles stones. Under the Law you are to be stoned for your sins. God says that He shall sit as a refiners fire. A refiners fire is used to purify metal by removing the dross.

You see if you believed that God meant that He would take what He created (each of us) and simply destroy it instead of removing the dross then you have stumbled over the Word of God. Instead you should understand from all of this that WHAT is being destroyed is the EVIL that is in us. The fire will consume it away. God is hurling Spiritual Stones (His MESSAGE - the Apostles) at us to destroy the evil in us. His Word is the MOST Powerful thing there is - not physical fire. There is nothing more powerful than His WORD. This is what this Universalist preaches. That above the power of literal Fire is God's Word and the wicked are going to receive it.

You've got to be kidding if you think "universalism" is the one world religion.

First of all, the people on this forum who believe in biblical universal salvation, have based this belief 100% on all of the scripture. Secondly, there is hardly anyone I know in the world who professes this belief. A couple dozen people on an internet forum do not make a one world religion.

If you really want to know what the one world religion is, look inward. This will probably go over most people's heads here: IMHO the so-called "one world religion" is the belief in self, the belief you control your own destiny, the belief that you have true free will. This belief in free will is the belief you are your own "god" with the power to stop God's desire and plan. That is the "one world religion" that is already here and has been here for centuries, and every single human has been in it, whether they realize it or not. That is one of Satan's biggest deceptions.
