I hear that Christianity went astray, and that the reformers we able to get Christianity back in true form. My question, about what year did they, the early Christians, loose it, or begin to loose it.

While the apostles were still alive there were already false prophets.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
1Jn 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1Jn 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jn 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

DNick,

Also while you may here that the reformers think they got christianity back to purity you just need to look at the denominational warfare to know that is not the case.

First off that is really a weak way to measure how Christianity was put back on the right tracks. That's equivalent to saying, look at all these wars Christianity started so logic dictates Christianity is bad. "Purity"? We are only pure because the blood of Christ who covers all our sins and not anything we did.

Okay, well that really doesn't answer my question, christianity didn't even exist. I'm talking post resurrection.

John Wyclif and the people known as Lollards in England were probably the first to restart, in the mid-late 14th century. This was, as it happens, about a thousand years after Theodosius, the emperor who felt confident enough to make the imperial version of Christianity official religion, which probably signalled the complete extinction of the church.
