I confess I haven't read the Bible front to back so I am here in the hopes someone may help me with a question. How much does the Bible really say about people telling lies?
The most ironic thing I've seen lately is a person email me who told a biggie while ending the email with a signature scripture quote.

The bible says there are liars.... but we already knew that!
You will get conflicting information about lying here... so I will just say that you cannot possibly govern everyone else's truthfulness but you can protect yourself by remembering the previous lie... A liar cannot be trusted but then again scripture says to forgive your brother as many times as he asks.
Here are a couple good verses:
Psalm 116:11 And in my dismay I said, "All men are liars."
Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.
Prov. 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
Proverbs 19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will perish.
Look on the bright side... if you are lied to enough you can easily recognize it and see the truth despite the lies....

Rev. 21:7-8 - He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I am a liar, a thief, and many other things.
The fire of God has put those things to death in me.

Everyone is a liar (at some point), so we all have our "part" in the lake of fire...

If God put them to death, then you were a liar, a thief, and many other things. They should all be past tense. You would be a new creature in Christ Jesus; resurrected from the dead -- because sin is death.

You are correct, but allow me to distinguish: flesh can only live or die, it cannot change.
This is a very important reality for Christians to understand: there is no improving or cleaning our nature - the only prescription for our freedom is the cross (God's fire). Just as Jesus had no other option but Calvary, there is no resurrection life without first crucifixion (1 Cor 15:36). But I submit that this is a process of daily dying - no one leaves this earth perfect.

Nope.
1 Timothy 1:15-16 (New American Standard Bible)
15It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. 16Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
Note Paul using the present tense.

And yet Paul says refers to himself as chief sinner in the present tense.
- 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
