To sum it up, the Christian life is literally "the life of Christ".

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20)

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (John 15:4)

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Phil 2:13)

Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. (1 John 4:13, 15)

This life is not about us naming His name and going it alone - just as the Father lived through the Son, so the Son lives through us. We are to be vessels of the Most High.

A man is first born of water (naturally), then he is born of the spirit. Water is a public testiment of faith, but believing is what He wants from us.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Rom 10:9-10)

See also Eph 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

No - natural rest is not required to be at rest spiritually, how else would one endure persecution? Jesus said He is lord of the sabbath (Luk 6:5).

For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us (Eph 2:14)

The sabbath was a type and shadow of Christ - we rest in Him 24/7.
