ROMANS 4

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

Abraham was justified long before he was circumcised....so his circumcision could have no dependence upon his justification...so that he would be the "model"/"parent believer"/"example" of man's justification by faith, that all MEN OF FAITH <<<(OBEDIENT FAITH!), in the future, would be moulded...whether they be Jew or Gentile, WHO BELIEVED<<<(OBEYED!) THEREAFTER (CONTINUOUSLY!) TO EVERLASTING LIFE.

Pardoned people are the only blessed people.

It is clear in Scripture that Abraham was justified many years BEFORE he was physically circumcised.

Abraham was the spiritual forefather of all THOSE WHO WALKED AFTER THE EXAMPLE OF HIS OBEDIENT FAITH! He is NOT the father of those who do not obey the commandments of God...ALL TEN OF THEM!...OUR<<(OBEDIENT BELIEVER'S) sanctification is sealed by the Holy Spirit of Christ...making us NEW CREATIONS!...NEW CREATURES!...<<<THIS BEING THE INWARD EVIDENCE OF THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF FAITH!

Abraham was pardoned and accepted in uncircumcision, so that the Gentile's would not fear judgement simply because they were not circumcised...and so the Jews could not boast in their pride of being circumcised...thinking they had a monopoly on all happiness.

10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

Abraham proves that justification by faith belongs ONLY to the (believing/obedient) Gentiles (uncircumcised), just as much as it ONLY belongs to the (believing/obedient) Jews (circumcised)....that outward circumcision (physically) didn't automatically make anyone justified by faith...nor did uncircumcision (physically) prevent anyone from being justified by faith...THE ONLY THING THAT JUSTIFIES ANYONE IS FAITH<<<OBEDIENT FAITH!!!...OBEDIENT TO THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOD!!!

11 And he received the sign of the circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith whch he had, yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that BELIEVE <<[OBEDIENT FAITH], though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had, being yet uncircumcised.

Abraham is the forefather ONLY TO THOSE WHO NOW WALK IN THE OBEDIENT FAITH THAT HE DID!...no one else.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

And CONTRARY TO WHAT THE ( KEEPING THE TEN COMMANDMENT BASHER'S) WOULD HAVE YOU TO BELIEVE, IN STATING THIS VERSE MEANS THE LAW 'THE TEN COMMANDMENTS' WERE ABOLISHED)...this verse ACTUALLY means that the reason Abraham's faith wasn't justified by the keeping of the law...WAS BECAUSE...

>>>>>>NO BODY OF LAW HAD BEEN GIVEN YET! THE MOSAIC LAW WAS GIVEN MANY YEARS LATER...THE LAW OF CIRCUMCISION HAD NOT BEEN ENACTED YET!!!...SO ABRAHAM'S RIGHTEOUSNESS WAS SECURED THROUGH FAITH, NOT OF A LAW THAT WASN'T WRITTEN YET!<<<<<<

14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

This is stating that if only those who are of the law (the Jews) are considered to be heirs...then the promise of a just God to ALL OBEDIENT BELIEVER'S whould be non existent.

15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

"...the law worketh wrath"=> wrath in us toward's God...it irritates and provokes that carnal mind which is enmity to God, just like when a stream is dammed...that makes the waters swell...so is God's wrath against us swelled! Our "breach" of the law works God's wrath against us. "...where no law is there is no transgression" => Where there is a law there is transgression...that transgression is provoking, and so the law worketh wrath.

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed<<<>>>[THOSE WHO HAVE THE SEED OF FAITH ONLY!>>>WHO WALK IN THE FAITH THAT ABRAHAM WALKED IN!]; not to that only which is of the law>>[THE JEWS], but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham>>[ALL WHO WALK IN THAT SAME FAITH!!!...GENTILES INCLUDED!]; who is the father of US ALL>>[WHO WALK IN THAT SAME ONEDIENT FAITH AS ABRAHAM DID!]

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before HIM whom he believed , even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

For a father of many nations<<<>>>OF ALL OBEDIENT BELIEVERS!...BOTH BEFORE AND SINCE THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS...the HE>>(GOD) should make Abraham the pattern for them>(obedient believers), and these obedient believers will call him (Abraham) father. Abraham is the father of all the world (those who are gathered under the wings of God).

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Even though Abraham was an old man, as was his wife...both far beyond child-bearing years, he still, with great faith, believed the promise that he would have offspring that would outnumber the stars in the sky!

In Christ's love...In His truth,
Verna.

ROMANS 4

19 And in being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

Abraham's faith in God's promises to him was strong...he didn't consider that his own body, in the natural, was far past child bearing years...as was Sara's womb...seemingly barren...they stood upon the promise of God for a "child of promise!"

When God gives us a "child of promise" or a "promise of blessing"...He'll put upon that promise a sentenence of death...and make the "way" that leads to it seemingly impossible...but Abraham did not dwell upon what he could see in the natural...no...he didn't allow doubt or distrust to disway him...the faithfulness of God that he believed in secured and strengthened his faith instead.

It is a weak faith that makes a man dwell upon the difficulties and the seemingly impossible "way" that leads to the fulfillment of the promises of God.

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

Abraham did not stagger!...he didn't hesitate!...he didn't stumble!...instead, with boldness! he stood upon God's promises!...he didn't argue!...he didn't DEBATE!...instead he DETERMINED his promise DONE!...It isn't the promise that fails...but our faith that fails when we stagger...unbelief dishonors God by making Him a liar...see 1 John 5:10...He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son...

...so faith honors God by giving God the glory of His wisdom, power, holiness, goodness, and ESPECIALLY His faithfulness!...that He is True...and His Word is Truth.

...and this faith of Abraham's gave glory to God!...God smiled down upon Abraham...Abraham pleased God...Abraham made God smile......I love that.

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Abraham resolved to trust the faithfulness and omnipotence of God...God was able to perform that which He promised...and Abraham knew it!

What causes many to distrust the divine power of God is their waverings.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Because of Abraham's confidence in God...He (God) graciously accepted him, and not only answered his prayers, but totally out-did his expectations!

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24 But for us<<<>>>[who live in faithful obedience] also, to whom it shall be imputed, IF we<<<>>>[those who live in faithful obedience] believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25 Who was delivered for our<<<>>>[whosoever ACCEPTS Jesus' blood sacrifice by believing ENOUGH to obey His commandments!] offences, and was raised again for our justification.

...to be continued.

This shows why faith is chosen to be the prime condition of our justification, because it is a grace that of all others gives glory to God.

In Christ's love...In His truth,...thank You Holy Spirit for Your guidance to and through Your truth...
Verna.

ROMANS 5

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we [obedient believer's] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This faith that justifies is a faith that believes deep in the heart...it is a believing, obedient faith in Christ. This faith brings the whole life of the believer into obedience...see Rom 1:5: "...By whom we have received grace and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE to the faith among all nations, for His Name."

This obedient faith gives us peace with God...because we are not enemies to God any longer..neither do we fear His wrath. <<<This is what is truly meant by: "There is no fear in love." Peace...hope...love...and power over sin...the sum of the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth chapter's!!!...<<<THESE ARE THE FRUITS of the obedient faith that justifies...where these fruits are not...THIS FAITH IS NOT!!!

2 By whom also we [obedient believer's] have access by faith into this grace wherein we [obedient believer's] stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We [obedient believer's] STAND! FIRM! AND! SAFE!...and being filled with hope for the glory of God...it is in this hope we have that is sufficient enough to rejoice now!...as if we were already in it!!!

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

The powerful grace of God works in the tribulation, and with the tribulation.

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Patient sufferers have most of the Heavenly Comforts, which are great in number as afflictions increase. We need the experience it gives.

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shead abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.

This hope is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a Spirit of love. It is the gracious work of the blessed Holy Spirit to shed abroad the love of God in the hearts of all the saints>>> [obedient believer's]. A right sense of God's love to us [obedient believer's], will make us not ashamed, either of our hope, or of our sufferings for him.

Picking up our cross and suffering our flesh of its desires...is a pleasure...it won't make us bleed...like Christ bled for us.

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

In God's own chosen time, He gave His Son to died for us when we were unable to think, will, or do anything good. Jesus' death gave us the power...IF WE RECEIVED HIM.

...to be continued.

In Christ's love...In His truth,
Verna.
