It means that since it wasn't reported on CNN,it didn't really happen. There were apparently no earthquakes before the invention of 24/7 cable news.Earthquakes only started happening once we had the capability to report them

You think 102 means the sun is getting hotter?

I remember 30 years ago 112 in illinois where I was living. The Dust bowl makes this look like a calm spring day where temps got above 120.

Do you not pay attention to anything, ever? Or have you been irrationally paranoid every year that heat waves occur?

It is not getting hotter, and heat waves are perfectly normal event in the earth's weather patterns. They are getting more coverage on TV, for the simple reason that spreading the warning saves lives. Our cities, and especially the poor areas where AC is not the standard are death traps, especially for elderly, who are also too scared to open windows due to crime in the area.

Until the 1995 heat wave killed 700 in Chicago, cities never issued "heat warning" or set up cooling centers, as they didn't believe heat waves killed. It's just getting more press today than decades ago.

You sure summer isn't a sign that the end is near?

I am willing to wager the sun is as hot as it has always been. Perhaps we are moving toward it or it is moving toward us milli-fractions per inch each year instead.

Betsey, I realize your fear of things Science. After all, if those atheistic scientist can come up with something like evolution and seemingly remove the need for god, then they MUST be viewed with suspicion on everything else, right? Well, that is not the case. We are not stressing you because we are unbelievers and other diverse, hell bound heathens and non True Christians. We are GENUINELY presenting simple, observable, tried and true FACTS despite whatever BELIEFS we may have that might want to get in the way. Heck, as a fellow Virgin Islander, you know there are still some of us still believe the cow-foot woman lurks behind out schools back home, but believing does NOT make her any more real, right?
