This verse tells us what Satan is called and lucifer is not mentioned.

Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent called Adversary and Satan, who is deceiving the whole inhabited earth. It was cast into the earth, and its messengers were cast with it.


The reason is is such a deception is that Christians are fooled into waging a war that does not exist, and causes them to expend their spiritual energy into matters that are irrelevant.
