Cool, I was thinking that you might have gotten the fuel from a farm storage tank or something similar.

Sometimes high amounts of bio can clog up filters when the temps drop.

If it was an air restriction the turbo would suck the filter in. while your looking at the air intake make sure all the clamps are on and tight?
just an idea.

But I'm betting on the fuel filter being clogged.

I hope it is just the filter. Maybe the new one a month ago has turned itself inside out or something.

I registered and logged in on the site you and Lux mentioned with this same user name Mac_Muz. I am going out right now to freeze my butt off and swap out another filter. Then hunt that fuel preheater screen, but I have no idea what i am looking for..... yet.

snofarmer, close, but Lux has it with that pre filter screen. I guess no one else knew it was there that serviced this truck before me. Man that thing was gooked up and nasty. The last new filter was clean enough but sucked in looking too.

The Boss says he didn't know the truck could move out like that. In around 1/2 mile I can go from 0 to 75 now never a cop around when ya want on, as i would have told the cop my job depended on the truck moving like that with my Boss sitting next me.

He came along for the test ride. It's friggin 15 out side still, and going colder.

I 'feel so gay' LOL

Lux I OWE YOU BIG! Thanks Man. Bailed me out.

Glad to see you got it fixed! Personally I would have just bypassed it but I guess it will be good for some time. I still HIGHLY recommend changing out that overflow valve.

It's bloody well cold here. That might be a nice project for later in Spring, but right now I need that truck yesterday. I couldn't even see what it's attached too. Black up there, and this is a 4x4, and the punkin and drive shaft were in my way.

These engineers clutter up stuff so bad it's a mirical anyone can fix them. To get the blasted filter can out i had to take off my coat vest and sweater. This is out doors, no heat in the wind, no fun.

I am sure you have been there before. Thanks. With no book I would have dead ended if not for you!

Thxs snofarmer. I am a mechanic, but this isn't my truck, so no book, and I am not familar with this truck. I was a foreign car mechanic, but got out of that for the simplicity of big industrial machines, with out every fastern hidden away. I still do my own work on anything I have. I do a few like motorcycles to mine, but I bought the book.

I am a mechanic, not a mind reader, and these engineers these days bury stuff, make up new stuff, and create ding bat engineering. Plus they don't need to fix the messes they make.

In seconds I am outta here..... 11 degrees last night. Glad i didn't have to be out under that rig in that temp.

Have you checked the lift pump? There should be a port to check the fuel pressure coming off the lift pump.

SD, No I don't have any gauge set up to check psi. If you, or anyone wants to relate about that I am all ears. I would rather check it before it's dead. (I may have a gauge, but not the right fittings)

I drove the truck 160 miles today. On the way is a steeper hill, and I was doing a decelleration at the foot of the hill, hittting it at 60, as the steep came on I hit the pedal and about 3/4ers up the hill the speedo said 75 mph. Not to bad.

When I got back the owner who is my LL and i work for, asked how the truck went. Him saying going down hill is what he ment, and as the problem was going down hill the truck would not exceed 60, so I pulled a gag on him, and told him I experenced a similar problem going down that same hill.

I said I could only get the truck to do 62 mph, going down hill, then grinned and said because a bigger truck was ahead of me.

If you want to check fuel pressure you will need to remove the banjo bolt that fastens the steel supply line to the injector pump. It's right out in the open, take it off and pipe tap it for a compression fitting. DONT LET ANY PARTICLES GET INTO THE INJECTION PUMP. Stock lift pumps provide about 35 psi max and idle at around 20 psi. You will need to install a needle valve on the on the banjo bolt and just barely crack it open, if not the gauge will bounce all over the place.

Do you have a Grainger near you? If not you can order online. Here are parts:
