Thanks, Mitch. At this point, I dont know what to do. I've been taking my car there for 6-7 years and they've always done right by me. I'll let them have Monday to get it fixed.

And thanks for the info on the freon. I guess I was thinking of my previous SUV when I said the Jeep had R12.

UPDATE: I just got the car back. The problem was that the first two replacement compressors, which were brand-new, were defective. The repairman had replaced everything twice and couldnt figure out why the a/c still didnt work. I know some of you criticized his technique, but what can you do when every single part has been replaced twice? Then he thought to try a different BRAND of compressor, even thought the previous ones tested in an acceptable range. Viola! Who'da thunk??

This compressor was $100 more but the shop didnt charge me for it -- and also didnt charge me for all the replacing and testing it did the past few days.

That's why I love these guys. Sometimes it takes them a while longer to figure out what's going on, but they always do and they never charge me for anything other than what they must.

From my understanding condensors regularly have to be relaced after a compressor fails, sounds like your shop treated you more than fairly, good luck with the ac.

The radiator and grill need to come off on 93-04 Grand Cherokees. Never did one on a Cherokee but I'm thinking they are very similar. Try the Jeep Forum, it's probably already been asked and answered. Good luck to you.

Are you sure this shop is as stellar as you had formerly thought? Sounds to me like they're just throwing parts at the problem, hoping to get a hit.

**Okay, after reading your Post #13, I stand corrected. Sounds like these are some stand-up guys who ran into a bizarre glitch.

Glad you got your beast back!
