in 1973 Consumer Reports tested the Chrysler New Yorker Brougham with a 440 V8, same engine that the Imp had. The New Yorker weighed a little more than 4700 lbs
the New Yorker gave a mpg range of 8-16 mpg in normal driving and 13 mpg on a 300 mile trip. CR's actually said this was "surprisingly good considering the engine's size and power". the Electra 225 and the Marquis both gave 7-16 and 12 mpg
CR's never tested the Imp in '73 but if they did, what would you expect the mpg to be? with the same 440 and weighing about 200-300 lbs more, would the mpg be the same or worse than the New Yorker??
I know its not important and were talking about 42 year old gas hogs, but im a die hard early 70's Mopar fan...
Chrysler is now a market competitor to Chevrolet and Ford not Cadillac and Lincoln so I don't see the Imperial making a comeback. Imperial as a luxury division to compete with Lexus and Infiniti may of been a possibility in the pre-Benz days, I don't see it happening in the current environment.
id like to see a retro version of the '71-'74 Charger
Not if it has that Jay Leno chin the challenger has.
