This is just such a sad situation all around, it seems like. Until now I've stuck with Chrysler products, with every other one being very good ('99 Stratus, '92 Plymouth Acclaim). My '95 Neon was put on the market too quickly before the quality bugs were worked out, and my current '92 LeBaron has had some issues too.
The new Chevy Malibu seems like a strong GM effort; and Chrysler (if they can stay above water) has a killer 200C concept as well as a number of new Pentastar-Phoenix V6 engines that should set new benchmarks for power, economy and refinement. But our federal government has sunk its mitts too far into GM and Chrysler for the purposes of pacifying the UAW and advancing the cause of socialism. I might buy a 2004 or 2005 Neon SXT (5-speed stick) next year, but I think a brand-new GM or Chrysler vehicle isn't looking too desirable.
The newest Honda Fits look pretty appealing, and I'll have to eyeball their interiors; they should be a step up from the previous generation. For used cars, along with the Neon SXT I'll look at Hyundai Elantras that are 4 years old or so.
YES! I love all my Chrysler vehicles. Wouldn't dare drive anything else. Sitting in my garages are a '02 Dodge Ram 2500....'04 Jeep Grand Cherokee.......'06 Jeep Wrangler.....'05 Chrysler Sebring.......1998 Sebring.......and '06 Chrysler 300. Am currently drooling over the '09 Dodge Challenger! I love their Owner loyalty program....can't beat that deal!
Accordinhg to consumer reports chrysler has the worse relaibility and recall record of any maker. I think that if you look most car are going and will be going to more plastic i orfder to keep weight down and get better mialeage. I haven't heard any relaibilty problems with toyotas. Ceratinly have with iogntion fires for years with the big htree. Strange that Ford finally acknowledged the problem after years and years.
The only incentive I would need to buy a new GM car is the product itself. They have lots of great new vehicles that I would love to have. The Pontiac G8 (all models), the Cadillac CTS (all models), Escalades, fullsize trucks & SUVs, Malibu, Lucerne, one of the Lamda SUVs (Traverse, Acadia, Enclave)... If I could afford to, I'd go buy a new GM vehicle just to do it.
Would you still consider Saturn a GM car? Yes or no, would you still buy one? Maybe I need to start another thread?
Saturn has only ever built 2 cars that I've ever cared for. The current Aura and Sky. The Aura is basically a Malibu and the Sky a Solstice. I honestly like the looks of the Sky better than the Solstice. The Malibu is the third iteration of its platform. The G6 was first, followed by the Aura. I do like the Aura, but the Malibu is the better car.
So, would I buy a Saturn? Sure. But a Saturn wouldn't be my first choice out of the GM brands.
Yes, without a problem. Unfortunatley I'm unemployed so it just isn't going to happen.
I'd love to have one of the following:
Chrysler 300 SRT8
Dodge Challenger SRT8
Jeep Cherokee SRT8
Dodge Ram 3/4 ton with a Cummins
Caddilac CTS V
Pontiac G8 GT
wow....you have great taste in cars!......I want a Dodge Challenger so bad.....in black pearlcoat......
