Would you feel unsafe in North Avondale? Probably not. But, the best way to find out is to drive around the area and see how you feel about it. I think discouraging people from living there across-the-board isn't fair to the people looking for houses, for the current neighborhood residents, or for the neighborhood itself.

North Avondale succeeds because of it architecture, but only to a point because of its isolation and proximity to some really rough areas. Every time I visit friends in Rose Hill, I have to drive by the big, beautiful, Victorian mansion owned by a Cincinnati School Board member whose husband was gunned down in his front yard in a random act of violence. That sort of thing, unfortunately, can happen almost anywhere, but in a neighborhood like NA it only cements the perception that you are at a higher risk.

Like stated in a previous post it is strictly a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood. Other new rich neighbrohds such as Terrace Park and Indian have NOTHING there but an old gas station and a post office and those are some of the best best places to live in the city. North Avondale has a great community feel! All the neighbors know and love each other and strive to have it the best it can be. I can be there 9:00 PM on a summer night and I will see people walking their dogs and chatting outside perfectly fine. AND St. Bernard isn't but five minutes away so whatever shopping you were expecting there is there. Not to mention it has the beautiful Clinton Hills Swim club.

Are you serious? How many years ago was this? I drive up and down those streets looking at large mansions on manicured lawns with a Land Rover and a X5 in the driveway lusting for those homes like that one on Betula that went for sale for 925,000.

the shooting t45209 mentioned was 5 years ago, in '06. it was a major kerfuffle because it was the seemingly random death of an older white man, highly unusual.

but yeah, i can also only dream to afford a house (and the upkeep) in that area
