I admit to being kind of a newcomer, but don't we have a lot of off-topic commentary and gratuitous personal attacks going on? Is this board moderated at all?

Yeah, yeah, I admit, I'm just mad because I can't get a really good corned beef or pastrami sandwich anywhere around here

You just can't stand that photo up there can you? You can't possibly care what I think about Slymans can you?

The OP wanted to start something by bragging on Slymans and found out that we don't have good corned beef here. How many times did I say it? But in the process, he put up a photo which is a testament to the fact that Slymans is probably just like Izzys - a place that makes too many sandwiches for any of them to be really special.

I think the thread has been very enlightening. Slymans=Izzys=generic.

Eh I'd rather have a long list of things over a corned beef sammie anyways. And I guess ignorance is bliss, cuz Izzy's is good enough for me when I go on Opening Day...and those potato pancakes? Seksi.

And the unsubstantiated BS continues...

You don't know anything about Slyman's. You got yourself in over your head because of some anti-Cleveland bias, and now you're making the most outrageous statements. Inform yourself before commenting. Actually go to Slyman's, and see why everyone else thinks it's great.

You spoke of these wonderful Chicago corned beef places, but you couldn't name one, and you cited a neighborhood that has been a disaster since the 50's.

You then spoke about these wonderful neighborhood NYC spots, and you couldn't name one.

You're in a hole. Quit digging.

Tubby, those potato pancakes are great aren't they.

But, let put that photo back up of that machine sliced generic corned beef from Slymans on the grocery store sandwich bread: I think that is most boring looking "sandwich" I have ever seen. Maybe the pickle is real good too"

Tubby, here is the potato pancake that makes an average corned beef meal exceptional:

1. Machine-sliced is the best way to serve corned beef.

2. You were told that the bread comes from Orlando's.

We're you a known liar before this thread?

Stay out of discussions about city food. You're out of your depth.

If you make 100,000 sandwiches a year.

2. You were told that the bread comes from Orlando's.

By an anonymous poster? Its a piece of Pepperidge Farm Rye.

I think the photo speaks for itself. Let's put it up again:

Ignore Wilson. He's just mad because he doesn't know anything about food.

I'm as happy as a clam. And, I'm not mad at you or anyone else. You wanted to start a fight with Cincinnatians defending their beloved Izzy's, but you put up the wrong photo. And, no one in Cincinnati much cares about corned beef. Haha! They actually had a better one on roadfood, but the result would have been the same.

Why don't you try to start something about bedbugs next time. Everyone is offended by an accusation of bedbugs.
