Ok. I am from Chicago. I just got offered a gig that is starting in 2 weeks in the Nasty Natti. From what I've seen going down there and what I've read about the place I really am not feeling living anywhere remotely close to the inner city parts. Between the gangs and the drugs, I just as well may live of the West Side Of Chicago.

Having said that, I need a place. Nothing fancy or big, something quiet, not slum village, in a decent neighborhood where gunshots dont fill in the ambiance of the outdoors. I went on apartmentratings and most of the apartments I saw on there were just slum villages and project hovels. I'll be working near that Whole Foods off Governor's Hill Drive by the 71/75 expressway and would like to keep it clear over there and/or Covington if it is better.

Now what I want in a neighborhood. Well, I would like to live somewhere where home invasion isn't the number one crime in the community. I want to live where gunshots are not my sound ambiance. Right now I live on the last conclave of a decent neighborhood in Chicago and that is going downhill fast. Granted, I grew up on the South Side and am no stranger to violence, gangs, and drugs and all that crap BUT I don't wish to have to live my life like I'm in a War, because that is what living 20 years on the south side was for me. It seems like the Nasty Natti got a little bit more happening in that area far beyond 25 dead bodies a day here in present Chicago.

I would prefer to rent; if I were to buy it would be well into the hills East of there by West Virginia. Right now something small, one bedroom, in a place that isnt charging a rip on a water bill or trash or any of that crap additional fees BS. This isnt a permanent thing...just a work thing. Be honest but I'm short on time since I have to figure this out in like 5 days.

please don't come into the cincinnati forum and call our city the 'nasty natti' while seeking help. we have a lot of very nice neighborhoods and crime is generally not anywhere near a place like chicago. i'm not much inclined to help past that.

Did not think it was offensive since I referred to both places by common nicknames I hear it referred to, like Indianapolis being called Nap Town. I didnt think it was all that nasty, trust me New York City is farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Nastier.

I think it would probably be better if you could tell us how much you want to pay in rent before anyone could recommend a specific area.

To be honest, I dont wanna go over a grand. I already pay 1500 here and have no intentions of giving up my spot in Chicago just yet as I cant see that part of the country a permanent move.

Thank heavens you came here and talked to us. There IS NO SAFE PLACE in this little slice of Hell on Earth you call the Nasty Natti. We're all armed to the teeth, and just get up every morning praying we can kill someone else before they gun us down. Really, it's complete anarchy. And if you think this side of the river is bad, it doesn't even begin to compare with Covington. Over there, they chop their unusupecting out-of-towner neighbors us and toss the pieces on the barbecue grill.

Please, save yourself while there's still time. Tell your employer you just simply don't have the guts to come here.

Sarah Perry if you are being serious, I can see that; Chicago averages 25 dead bodies a day and 400 shootings a week (reported that is) and I still think Natti is FAR WORSE than that. I've been down there and it reminded me the summer I stayed in Compton.

If you are heckling the chain, good one, but if you were moving to Chicago I would tell you DONT. The only reason I'm keeping this place here is because I need a permanent residence so if things dont work down there Im not stuck there. I love the Marietta area of Ohio, but Natti just aint my cup of tea. My next major move will be Toronto end of next year.

If I cant get a decent place, I am more than willing to turn the job down. I am not trying to have a Chicago flashback of Gang War and the majority of posts on here about Natti arent that great, especially East Side Robberies up. What am I to think? Right now the only difference between here and there for me is the fact you have MS13 down there. The Latin gangs killed that whole gang out when they came up here.

If you ask me about Chicago I will tell you the business. The entire city has went to hell. Crime is everywhere, even in my neck of the woods that use to be decent and now the tearing down of the projects and the elimination of section 8 has the undesirables scattered into the 4 corners. Yes the West South and East side are worse now than ever with people getting shot on bus stops, on busses, and trains. Unemployment is rampant and at any time during the week at 11am people are outside by the thousands like they are on a holiday weekend EVERYDAY and its been like that since 2008. Illinois cut their unemployment before the feds did two weeks prior and the crime has went up! Check our local news every monday for a weekend body count. The Coroner is so backed up bodies here stay on the street hours until they get there. The North side has its slew of everything, with Rape being number one followed by violent robbery on the street and in public places. And while I live in the middle of true hell on earth Sarah, Im not trying to trade one hell for another.

You are hilarious. The gangs and crime we have here are child's play compared to anywhere in Chicago. A friend of mine just had her car stolen out of her locked garage in Winnetka, so back off the crime talk.

Yes, MS13 has shown some activity in Fairfield...a far flung suburb from the inner city areas you seem to be terrified of. Yet, from what I have seen the MS13 presence has been mostly substantiated by spray paint on sewer pipes...not blood in the streets.

Compared to many places in Chicago, you could live almost ANYWHERE here and not have a fraction of the crime that you have there.

And, for $1000 a month, you could live just about anywhere in Cincinnati.

As far as your friend having her car stolen out of a locked garage....she's lucky that was all. From what I've seen down there is comparable to the West Side of Chicago. And MS13 does more than spray paint down there. They control the heroin down there. Besides the point.

Where near Governor's Hill Drive by the 71/75 expressway that is decent has rentals that arent scum buckets and buckshots.

i don't know where you mean. the only place 71/75 merge is in kentucky. but far as i know there isn't a whole foods on the kentucky side. look at this way. any house within about 3 square miles of whole foods will be totally fine and safe. whole foods isn't going to locate in a ghetto.
