Living outside of Cincinnati, but decent drive to Indianapolis?
Does anyone know of any nice apartment areas outside of Cincinnati (maybe 20mins or so)? I am relocating and my job requires me to live near Cincinnati.. but I will be doing a lot of traveling out to the Indianapolis area maybe twice a week. I am trying to find somewhere that is a straight shot to Indiana but still closer to Cincinnati.
I'm really looking for a nice apartment in a nice area. I'm willing to pay $900+/month on rent for a 2 or 3 bdroom apt. Family-like would be ideal. I don't have any kids.. so it doesn't have to be near schools, but maybe near a good hospital system. My bf is a nurse and will be licensed in the state of ohio (we could work around that, but that's what the plan is). My job requires me to travel, A LOT... so being maybe 40-45mins max to the Cincinnati-Northern KY Airport would be a plus. Shops, malls, restaurants.. last on my list.. but def. nice to have as well.
I know this is really specific, but I'm pretty flexible. Any insight would be great.. because here's the fun part about my relocation: I JUST found out I have to be moved and settled-in by July 9th!!! agghhhh.. help!

Thanks for your quick reply Subway! We will be looking into that place. Any more suggestions? I also posted this on the main Ohio forum because I need replies quickly. Thanks again!

If you want a straight shot to Indy, your best bet is going to be somewhere along the northwestern I-275 loop. That way you would simply hop on I-74 and head straight to Indy. There is also the Harrison area, right on the Ohio/Indiana state line.
For the price range you are talking about, you will have NO PROBLEMS at all finding a great apartment that meets the criteria you specified.
For starters, try looking at Northwest Woods, right off the Hamilton Avenue exit of I-275, up near Fairfield. Here is a link to their website....Nexus PM | Northwest Woods (broken link)
There is also Pinnacle Pointe..... Nexus PM | Pinnacle Pointe (broken link)

Well, if your primary concern is to have quick access to a direct route to Indianapolis, and you want to be somewhat close to a hospital, it's a bit limited. The closest hospital to the northwest side of the Cincinnati suburbs is going to be Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. There is a hospital in the city of Hamilton, Fort Hamilton Hospital, but that doesn't really afford a quick, direct shot to the interstate for getting to Indy. There is another hospital down toward Cincinnati off Colerain Avenue (US 27) - Franciscan Mt. Airy - but you're not likely to find a great apartment in a decent neighborhood down in that direction.
Most hospitals in the Cincinnati area are centrally located in the heart of the city itself, or else in a place that wouldn't give you a relatively short drive to Indy. Most good hospitals in the area are generally in the northeast or east sections of the suburbs, or a few miles north of downtown. You can find great apartments in the northeast and eastern sections of the city, but as I said, you'll have a drive just to get to the Indiana state line.
I WOULD say you could find something in Northern Kentucky, but you said you're going to be licensed in Ohio, so I presume that means you can't live in KY. It would still be a bit of a drive, but not nearly the hassle that you would have if you lived on the northeast or east side.
Likewise, you aren't overly concerned about access to decent schools, shopping or restaurants. So given all that, my honest suggestion is to look for something on the north side of town along the I-275 loop, or around to the west side. But keep in mind, the farther west you go, the longer your commute will be to a hospital.
The only other community I can find that might work for you is Country Woods Village. The west side of the area is simply more out of the way than the rest of the region. Don't get me wrong...it's nice in areas, but simply not very sought after with respect to finding a great apartment in a more upscale, higher priced community. Most of the apartments on the west and northwest side are going to be found in small buildings, and you'd have to look in the paper for ads to find them, or drive around the area to see "For Rent" signs. The majority of apartment complexes on the west side will either be too far off the main path for easy access to Indiana, or else they won't necessarily be the kinds of communities you'd want to find yourself in.
I really wish I could help you more, but it's unfortunately the way Cincinnati is laid out. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them for you.

Try The Oaks in Fairfield. They have great views, big bedrooms, and are less than a mile from I-275 at Route 4 on the northern loop. You hit I-275 west and it is a straight shot (turns into 74) to Indy. Plus, right around the corner from the apartment (approximately 1 1/2 miles) is the Mercy South Medical Center.
Hope it works for you.

I grew up in Cincy, but went to school in Indy (and currently live in Indy), so I have driven from Cincy to Indy too many times to count. The best place to live that is 20-25 minutes outside of the city but is a straight shot to indy is Harrison. You can get right onto I-74, which takes you directly to Indy. There is also a lot of new housing (albeit a little cookie-cutter) in Harrison. If you lived in Harrison your drive to downtown Indy would take you 75-90 minutes (averaging ~75mph, and the speed limit is 70mph).
