Sauce or no sauce, what constitutes "good" pizza is extremely subjective. I like a thicker crust -- but not doughy -- that's crisp on the bottom. A deep coating of sauce -- not too sweet (like LaRosa's) -- with plenty of oregano and garlic. Mozzarella cheese, but not a solid glob that peels off. Not so much pepperoni or sausage that the pizza is greasy.

You know what's really good on pizza that surprised the heck out of me? Broccoli. Go figure.

at the end of the day though, all we ever really eat is La Rosa's. I think the last ten pizzas we have ordered have been from there.
Same here. I love LaRosa's though, so it's not like I get it a lot just because it's all over the place. This thread will hopefully motivate me to try some new places though, amazing how many have been mentioned here that I've never even heard of.

Yes yes yes, gotta have a lot of red sauce. I love it. Nothing worse to me than a pizza with too little sauce. Can do no better than a C- at that point.

For my family, there is no better "go to" pizza than deep dish sausage and pepperoni from La Rosa's. At $11 it is enough food for dinner and then one lunch the next day

I hear ya. So damn delicious and for $11! I love pizza price wars. My problem is that none ever survives for lunch the next day!

For me its all about a thin-medium crunchy crust with a good amount of red sauce, load on the cheese and im a happy camper. I also like my sausage bacon beef meatlovers pizza. And living in Chicago theres a pizza joint on every street corner.

We had some pizza delivered from Pizza Chef on Millville Ave in Hamilton tonight. Just about burned our mouths on it, it was still so hot when it arrived. Good crust, not real thin but not too thick and real fresh. Delicious red sauce and just the right amount of toppings. Really the best we have had in quite a while.

Delurking to add a Homer Simpson-esque moan to the Marian's suggestion in Dayton. Worked on a project at Standard Register for about 18 months and still remember our weekly visits to Marian's. I'd venture to say that it is the best pizza I have ever had. It is the only pizza place I have found which actually has small crumbled pieces of sausage instead of big large boulders. The sausage is small but scattered uniformly throughout the pie so that every bite has the perfect ratio of meat/crust/cheese. If anybody knows of any pizza joints in Cincy which do this, please let me know!

Read all 4 pages and not one mention of Donato's?! What is wrong with you people? Blows LaRosa's away in taste, texture, quality etc... Years ago LaRosa's was had an awesome pie but they changed when Buddy handed the reigns over to the boys. The Boudnot store was Buddys first and we got all pizza there when I was a kid growing up. But now the King of the hill is Donato's.

There was a place over on the west side years ago. Heard they closed down when I was living in Chicago, but only 1 of their 2 store fronts closed. Fantastic pie...haven't had one in 2 decades. Anyone remember 'Trotta's Pizza'? Home of the "Lotta Trotta" pizza. If you like garlic, that was thee place to go. But Donato's is where the OP will enjoy quality za, the best in the nati'.
