Is there a publication that lists homes or land for sale by owner in the Cincinnati area? The areas I am most interested in are Mulberry, Loveland, and Monroe. I am looking for 5 or more acres to build a single residential home on or for a 4-5 bedroom home with 5 or more acres. The property must be horse friendly. I would love to find land with hills and wooded.
Thanks!
Bobbie
There are several sites out there for this. Do a Google search on "For Sale By Owner". Other than that, I would suggest one of the local papers or Craigslist. There are also those trading post type papers at the local supermarkets - they are usually free.
Thanks for the suggestions! I have viewed a myriad of online "for sale by owner" sites, some better organized than others since all don't specify the acreage. I will check the supermarkets on my next trip to Cincinnati. Where I am in West Virginia, we have a Bulletin Board publication that costs $1.25 and is published weekly. People can place free advertisements for their homes and everything they might have for sale. It is a huge source of finding real estate for sale by owner (as well as animals, cars, furniture, etc.). I was just hoping there might be something similar in the Cincinnati areas I mentioned. Thanks again!

Bobbie, you can check out my house on Zillow. I have 9.2 acres with woods, pond, 4 horse barn and nice 3BR 2BA brick ranch with full basement which would offer another bedroom option for one of your kids. you can reach me at sandy_mathews@yahoo.com and please check out 6832 Edwardsville Road Blanchester OH. It is in Harlan Township and the schools are really good. The drive time to Cincinnati (north) is about 40-45 minutes. Here's a link you can see some pictures, which don't do justice to the house. If the mechanicals come close to the visuals, this appears to be a nice home for someone who wants property, horses, etc. The listing is rather blurry when it comes to describing the horse barn and other amentities. In fact, it lacks so much in detail you begin to wonder why. But for the asking price, I would want to inquire in substantially greater detail what the property has to offer.
Details are on broker's website on Picture Gallery for listing 1246696
The barn has 2 loft sections which can hold 200 bales hay. There is a tack/feed room and a parking spot in the barn for a wheelbarrow or tools and small tractor to pull the spreader. Aisle is wide enough to drive a pickup truck loaded with hay. We don't need an elevator to toss the bales into the loft. The last few can be stacked on the ground. The water pump is supplied by the house and pipe below the frost line, it never has issues. The pump is inside the barn by the door. There are special electric boxes with conduit runs (no exposed wire) to the stall front or up in the corner where electric fans and electric water buckets can plug into. The wiring is such that we had a timer in the electric box for the lights in the winter to cycle the broodmares (2). The fans could be turned on/off also. The stalls don't have sliding doors, but the swing out type. This way one end stall can convert to a run in stall from the paddock. This worked well when they need shade or shelter. The only way to appreciate a place is to get a showing. Call Deborah Watters @ 513-619-6300.

I like that fact this owner has a certain defensive appeal for his property. If I were looking for such a property and evaluating what I may be able to do with it in the future, I would contact them and arrange for a look-see and review. I just like the attitude this is what we have, what we have done, and what we believe the possibilities are! Sure they are trying to put their best foot forward, but that should be expected. I posted a complaint about a vagueness in the property description, and they come back with a whole lot of details. I applaud that and encourage anyone interested to contact them.
mathews6832,
Thanks so much for the information about your house! I am compiling a list of some houses of interest for another trip to Cincinnati and will add yours to my list. I was really hoping to buy a 2 story and would prefer a bit closer to town but it is definitely a good price and worth a look. We have a ranch now which is great (3000 square feet) but with four boys it just seemed time to have bedrooms on a separate floor than kitchen and family room. Has the lack of funding in your school district affected its services at all? I was told some extracurriculars or after school care would be the first thing to go . . . Of course I have not checked into the area since early summer so maybe another levy has passed? I liked that area (near your house) but was not sure how the lack of funding was affecting the schools so it is great to hear from you that the schools are great there!
Thanks again! We will likely hold off on buying until spring so as not to move our children in the middle of the school year.
