Has anybody heard the story of a ghost named Big Blue in Hamilton, Butler Co., Ohio at the old Hamilton High School? When I was a little girl in the early 1970's I would talk to the old people in my neighborhood when they sat on their porches and I seem to remember hearing ghost stories about the old Hamilton High School (on Dayton St or an earlier location) and that there was a ghost named Blue. I just found out how old Hamilton High School really is and nobody ever talks about where the name Big Blue came from. I don't think anybody remembers or the people who remembered has already passed away. I noticed recently in a Homecoming parade that the high school is using a Bulldog as a mascot now. When did that get started? I know that some years back only the Little Blue Football team was called the Bulldogs but when did it reach the high school? I went to Hamilton High in the early 1980's and there was no Bulldog that I can remember but I wasn't into sports. I am curious to know the history of the name Big Blue (and if the ghost story is true). My mom went to the old Hamilton High School when it was Harding Jr. High School and she said there was ghost stories there but she never heard of a ghost named Blue though. President George W Bush visisted Hamilton High School on Eaton Ave in 2002. He even said in his speech that it was the home of the Big Blue. He probably wondered himself about the name and didn't get an answer. If anybody knows where it came from I would really like to know.
