Hi,

I'm moving downtown and looking for parking near West 8th. Every garage I've called charges either over $100 per month or has a 200+ person waiting list. I've seen these, though, and they appear empty at night. These prices and wait lists seem to be for workers, not residents. As I work about 30 minutes from Downtown I'd only be parking there from 6pm-7am during the week, as well as on weekends.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to park?

Your new residence doesn't provide parking? If you're only parking from 6 p.m.-7 a.m. during the week, you should be able to pull your car right in front of your building and park for free on the street, since meters are free during those hours.

Or you could check out what the monthly rates are at the Garfield Garage.

Garfield Garage was the one with the 200 person wait.
Street parking is ok, assuming my car doesn't get broken into, but I'm wary of being plowed in during the winter, and it doesn't help on Saturdays (though the Garfield Garage is only $2 those days...)

Ouch, a 200-person waiting list probably doesn't bode well for the availability of other nearby garages then. What about the Gateway garage up at Central Parkway and Vine?

Call Blue Chip Parking 807-3694. they own a lot on West Court Street between Race and Elm and the guy that runs it may make a deal with you.
