Had to throw in my 2 cents since I seen all the Cincy bashing. I am a first officer with an airline, I have lived in Ohio,PA, Georgia and Europe. I moved to Cincy 3 years ago for my job. Me and my family love the city. My job allows me to see much of the country, but there are few places I would rather live.
I live in the suburbs, I can be downtown in 25 minutes, yet where I live has a small town feel to it. I have never been in a city that had such greenery intwined in it. Pollution? hardly, unless you are talking about the river which looks nasty brown but actually not like it once was. Fortune 500 recently voted Cincinnatti the #1 city in the country for young professional singles. Nightlife? across the river in Newport is booming.
Another great aspect that is a short trip south and you can be in prime outdoor activity. Danial Boone National forest, Big Bone state park ect ect. Cincinnati airport is a "hub" meaning you can fly direct to most cities and many international stops.
Of course the only time a city is in the news is when something bad happens. The riots were before I lived here so I can only say my experience has been positive.
Crime in downtown is a problem, but it is so isolated to a certain area that it can easily be avoided. There are numerous fortune 500 and 100 companies. The best fact for me is that I consider it the ultimate family place to live. I plan on staying here for the rest of my career.JMHO.

^Not to mention that the Cincinnati metro has one of the fastest growing job markets in the nation right now. Cincinnati is a safe city that is really on the move. Just look at all the fortune 500 companies downtown. I would love to work in Proctor and Gamble's offices.

Cincinnati is a great place to live. It's downtown is rapidly imroving, it has a huge metropolis, and there are many excellent. There is a very large airport nearby with service to places all around the world. I currently live in a large town between Indianapolis and Cinci. I used to live in Cinci and am very familiar with it. No matter what any statistics say, Cincinnati is much larger than Indy. There is absolutely nothing to do in Indy. There is not a racism problem. It is like any large city. If black "gangsters" are going to cause problems for the police, how can they have the respect of the police. Cinci is not a racist place. After all, our mayor is black. Dayton is also a very nice city very close to cinci. I am proud of Cincinnati, and for the men and women looking for work, you have found the right place.

1. there is a racism problem, and it's huge. embarrassing for a large regional center.
2. cpd is one of the most notoriously corrupt and brutal forces in the history of this country. ny, la, chicago, philly, new orleans, cincy. look it up.
3. the mayor being black doesn't instantly wash away all of cincinnati's social problems. dwight tillery is black.
4. great city, but it's not much different than cleveland in this respect - no degree=no job.
5. indy is very lame compared to cincinnati.

The suburbs of Cincinnati are a great place to raise a family, get an education, work, and live your life. You're right, our park system is amazing, there are green areas everywhere. The only downside for me is our weather
because I don't like cold, gray, winter days. Welcome!

JCI, just a quick reply....
....If you're not a fan of Cincinnati, it IS time to leave. It would be simple for me to have stayed in my own hometown, but I didn't find it to be the right environment for me, so I left. My hometown was a nice, friendly, sleep little town, but I wanted to be in a city with more opportunity, culture, and diversity.
I have lived in Cincinnati for a year and I have found those things. Statistics, tensions, and drawbacks aside, this is a great place to be if you properly investigate and explore it. Being a newcomer, I think it is such a shame when residents of Cincinnati, particularly young adults who have been here all their lives, don't understand or appreciate the benefits of being in a metro area and this one in particular. I teach in Anderson township, and no, it is not a perfect area....nowhere is. I find it pretty darned great, though, and the parents of my students will say the same thing. Has it occurred to you that every school has students with issues, and that schools aren't entirely responsible for what students do with their own time and resources?
I will also say that your comments on downtown and OTR sound just like those of many of the people I have met here who live (and have always lived) in the suburbs....uninformed. No, the urban areas are not for everyone, and yes, there are times when I have felt wary of walking down certain streets late at night, but I tend to be wary of walking down ANY street late at night given my age, size, and gender. To say "stay away from downtown" seems very extreme to me....I have spent plenty of time there since moving to Cinci and have never had any problems. Try it out (and allow others to do the same) before making a blanket statement. OTR has some great coffee shops, bars, art galleries, and living spaces....it's really on the way up and I think that people who have previously discounted it would be smart to give the area a second look.
In other words....no city is perfect. If you don't like it, try another one. But let those of us who love it enjoy it, and respect that while you don't like Cincinnati, you shouldn't try to dissuade us from appreciating what we have here.

Boring, DEPRESSING, most boring city, downtown is DEAD, even on weekends, nobody on the streets, nobody walking around. Sure the Kentucky side (Covington / Newport) IS better but full of RedNecks. Stay away if you can. WE LIVE HERE SO YOU DONT HAVE TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOWEVER, Red River Gorge, is a world class rock climbing MECCA two hours south of Cincinnati in Kentucky (again, KY is better than OH). Huge overhanging sandstone cliffs. And i must warn you, it is beautiful, BUT Ohio residents tend to bring excessive amounts of beer, go camping and fall off of the cliffs or go "sport rapelling" all the while littering beer cans about and sometimes loosing thier friends in the woods.

You ever think maybe Cincinnati hates you. Maybe it's boring because you are a boring person and don't know what to do with you free time..
