Middle age artist husband and myself are relocating to the Northside from the hills of tennessee. We are looking for a safe , clean, and quite street to purchase or rent a home or an apartment on. Do you have any thoughts on a street or a side of the Northside area that we need to look at? We would love to be able to walk to the beautiful parks and the see great art and eat at restaurants locate on the northside. Thank you for your help!

Alright! You're going to love Northside. You have plenty of options, but there's variation from block to block. If you spend a day around the neighborhood, you'll get a pretty good feel.

Based on your description, I would recommend looking at Haight - a few blocks from the restaurants of business district, sits on the edge of the woods, and is very clean.

typical advice would be to stay west of hamilton and north of spring grove. that is changing though, with projects like american can and some smaller project happening east of hamilton.

Northside is a transitional neighborhood. If you want quiet, clean and safe, look for a rehabbed house close to other already rehabbed houses. Some streets can change block by block, and parts of Northside still have plenty of crime, drug-dealing, and trashy people. Once you narrow your search to specific properties, if you want to message me I may have useful feedback. Best of luck with your move.

I do hope you find your safe, clean, and quiet location in Northside. At least you are coming in with a positive attitude which has to be at least half of the battle. Once you make a decision let us know how it turns out.
