Correct. Hence, my "there's a price for everything" comment. If W&S - or P&G or McDonald's or you or me or anyone else - really wants it, hit that magical price to make it happen.

Northside CC supports Hamilton/Blue Rock project, sees designs
Quote:
Northside Community Council yesterday evening approved a motion supporting Milhaus Development's continued pursuit of a development agreement with the City for the former Myron G. Johnson & Son Lumber Co. property, located at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Blue Rock Street.

The Indianapolis-based developer plans a LEED Silver-certified project of approximately 100 apartments and 8,500 square feet of commercial space for the City-owned site, which has been vacant since the lumber company moved to a larger space in Queensgate in 2005.

Agreed. I'm so sick of these cheap, generic designs.

The project would be a huge plus for Northside, but the drawing makes it look out of scale and stylistically incompatible with the surrounding buildings. Too bad, because the historic character of the commercial strip is one of the big drawing cards for the neighborhood.

Metro set to break ground on Uptown Transit District
Quote:
Metro will break ground on its new Uptown Transit District on May 31, a $6.9
million project that will put four sheltered boarding areas in the region’s
second-largest employment center, home of the University of Cincinnati and Pill
Hill.

The hubs will have real-time information on when buses are going to arrive,
be integrated with shuttles provided by the university and other Uptown
employers and have rider information to help people find their way.

project could also include a limited-service hotel of up to 120 rooms and a
parking garage that would hold up to 470 spaces. First floor retail of up to

the new design may not be perfect, but at least it properly addresses the street (ie zero setback, interior parking). from an urban design perspective, it is right on and loads better than places like the drexel in oakley.

Not a development, but here's a great write-up from Canada's National Post on Cincinnati and OTR:
