But curious how the enquirer didn't report the story and instead reported this garbage.

Vacant Walnut Hills firehouse to become a restaurant
Quote:
After 20 years of trying to redevelop it, a vacant city firehouse and the adjacent Hamilton House in Walnut Hills will be turned into a restaurant and apartments under an ordinance passed by the Cincinnati City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee on Monday.

The first phase of the Firehouse Row overhaul is part of a larger city plan to redevelop properties in the McMillan Street business district near East McMillan Street and Gilbert Avenue.

Major medical firm coming to Keystone
Quote:
A specialized medical tenant is seeking to join Keystone Parke in Evanston. The unidentified company has signed a letter of intent to lease 60,000 square feet, which would be in a new, stand-alone building, according to developer Dan Neyer, president of Neyer Properties.

Cincinnati City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee recommended supporting Neyer’s request for a $4.8 million state loan for a 250-space garage and other infrastructure improvements. The measure will go to council for approval next week.

The tenant would hire 200 new employees with an annual payroll of at least $10 million, according to city documents. Neyer said he hopes to complete the building by the end of 2014.

Cincinnati wants bike share program running by 2014
Quote:
Two private organizations and the city of Cincinnati want to place 21 bike share stations with 10 bicycles each in downtown and Over-the-Rhine by the spring of 2014.

The program, which is similar to one in Chicago and other large cities, would be automated. Bicycles could be rented and returned to any of the stations in the network. The city and nonprofit organizations Green Umbrella and Leadership Cincinnati hope to eventually expand the program to Uptown and Northern Kentucky.

The program’s aim is to provide an affordable mobility option for short trips within the city.

Large housing development planned for California
Quote:
A new neighborhood of up to 70 houses and 250 apartments has been proposed in a hilly area next to a city-owned golf course in Cincinnati’s California neighborhood.

Crestview Hills-based Harbour View Holdings is seeking zoning changes to build the new development on 41 acres at the intersection of Sutton and Two Mile roads, near Interstate 275. Part of it is on excess property from the California Golf Course that the city sold last year.

An estimated 60 to 70 single-family homes would be built on 22 acres higher on the hillside, with a wide area of green space along the edges. The homes would be built on lots 50-feet wide, with 25 feet in the front yard and 35 feet in the back, according to the city Planning Commission.

Cranley said he wants the bike share today in the debate. Seems like that is a go regardless of election results.

IMO NKY needs to get on board ASAP for the bike share to function anywhere near its potential. Here's a situation where the state and municipal boundaries present a major headache. NKY has a lot more relatively flat, densely populated land than the Ohio side of the river basin.

I was wondering what was going on with this building that sits across the street from Rhinehaus. It was always a rowdy building, AFAIK. Good news.

I think the following excerpts are telling when it comes to the momentum growing in downtown Cincinnati.

Quote:
“It didn’t come down to the government, it came down to being a good fit in the community,” CEO Chris Cicchinelli said Tuesday.
Quote:
Cicchinelli was unhappy about what he suspected to be the Kasich administration’s bias against Pure Romance’s products – lotions, cosmetics and adult toys sold by an international network of consultants through in-home parties.
Quote:
In the end, though, he and founder Patty Brisben based their decision on atmosphere, not attitude, and the ongoing redevelopment of Downtown proved an irresistible draw.

3CDC shows preliminary plans for next big Over-the-Rhine projects
Quote:
The preliminary plan calls for creating nearly 50 residential units in a combination of renovated buildings and new construction, along with more than 15,000 square feet of commercial space in those same structures. The site also would have seven townhomes – six new and one in a historic building, Martin said. He didn’t offer any specifics about pricing.
