I have a good friend who owns an apartment in Moscow, Russia and wants to sell it. She currently lives in Cincinnati, and needs to speak with someone who is experienced with this kind of thing. Even the most basic questions need to be answered - for example, how will the money be transferred, etc.

She is bi-lingual, so either an English or Russian speaking attorney is fine. The problem is finding someone trustworthy that isn't just out to rip her off for a $100 phone consultation.

Any recommendations?

Would she not want to have an attorney based locally in Moscow to do this? I think you should look for a Russian expat online community and ask this same question.

First off, I agree that you would probably want to find an attorney in Moscow for this situation.

But, if you are looking for one in Cincinnati (and there may not be one that fits your needs with this matter), I'd ask the Cincinnati Bar Association for help to find one that may fit your needs.

The guy's name was John Epling. He had an office in Anderson and an office in Moscow. Very interesting guy. That was 1993, however, so who knows where he is today.

Wilson, I'm guessing that his name is STILL "John Epling"...

I didn't look him up, but he was a little older than me and so I was politely hinting that he may no longer be with us.

Yes, when you hit a certain age, if you have not had recent contact, that is always a possibility. Let's hope he is still around, and even if not engaged in an active practice can advise this OP on how to proceed. Sounds like he should know.
