It may sound corny but JAlexanders on Friday for happy hour. Be open to conversation and you'll be suprised at how much you can find out about where the AA Pros go, hang out etc. But for someone new to the city this is your jump off point.

On 1-75 with a UHAUL on the way out to another city...lol

Sorry, I am no help. This area is dry when it comes down to do for the professional crowd. It was better in the mid-90's but I don't know what is going on now. I honestly do think it has a lot to do with the number of professional blacks that have left the area.

LMAO!! I feel you bigblue!! That's really sad b/c cincy has a huge black population (44%). I live in FL for now(from cincy) but next year I'll be in cincy (west chester area)for maybe a year (career move). Damn, so i gotta get my mind set on being bored for a year..Huh!!! boohoo. Thanks all.

Let's break that 44% down though. I was born and raised in the Nati so when I see that I always think of the "true" number of black professionals in that group. Then that 44% only applies to the City of Cincinnati not the whole MSA. That 44% includes OTR,Avondale,Bond Hill, Winton Terrace,Westwood, Price Hill,College Hill. I would say the portion of true black professionals in "Cincinnati" is maybe 10%. Now include the suburbs and it gets larger but many are in the Govt, Education, Social Work sectors and the few with P&G,Federated,F/3 rd. etc.

I'm working on my MBA and I joined the local Cincy chapter. Even the coordinator said Cincy had the smallest chapter/lowest turnout of any chapter she had dealt with. There seems to be a small clicque of professionals that congregate through the Urban League and Frat/Soror groups. Try the UL I think that they have meetups.

Also try Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups! I know here in DC there are TONS of social opportunities to go out and do interesting things. ---That is what I DON'T miss about Cincinnati--it is BORING!.

Have you seen the school lately..It's really falling apart. I think less that 100 kids graduate a year. Ours was the last graduating class with over 250kids.

Time will tell if we are going to be here long term. The value lies in the types of opportunities-if one can get a foothold here and transfer to a lower cost area, its good. Nursing, education, govt,engineering,law--all strong here. Plus this place is network heavy. I really like being in an area that isn't just black and white..being able to roll up to NYC/or the beach for the weekend--yeah I really like that!.
