Default Persian Armenian (Iranian) neighborhoods in Cinci and Kentucky

Hello my Cinci and Kentucky friends:

My husband and I are moving to Cincinnatti and looking for the Iranian (Persian-Armenian) middle class neighborhoods in Cinci or Kentucky. My office is in downtown Cincinnatti and not sure what will be best for us. We have no kids and love to entertain and be close to restaurants and entertainment. We do have two beautiful dogs that like fun as well

I appreciate your guidence.

Thank you!
Judy

I don't know if there are any, but one source for information is LifePoint Solutions' Acculturation Center, 513-721-7660.

There are many middle easterners around CUF and Clifton Gaslight. More so in Clifton Gaslight, but don't count out CUF. As large as Cincinnati is, it does lack distinctive ethnic neighborhoods. It does support many cultures within various neighborhoods though.

No such neighborhood exists here. That doesn't mean there are not Persians in Cincinnati, but I don't believe they try to congregate in any one area. Take for example the few Middle Eastern restaurants that exist in Cincinnati...they are widely dispersed geographically...Andy's Mediterranean Grill in Walnut Hills near downtown, versus Taz off the Fields Ertel exit of I-71 in the northern suburbs, and neither of them are located in areas where you will find a large Middle Eastern population. I think you'll find a Middle Eastern grocer on Rt 42 in Sharonville in the north central part of the 'burbs, and so on. The culture does exist here, but not in any defined way outside of the networking that individual families might do.

On a side note, there's an interesting phenomena occurring in Sharonville, on the north side of I-275. There's something of an international shopping district forming there. In addition to the ME grocer mentioned above, you'll find Indian grocers (I believe one of the two is Patel Brothers), there's an Asian fish market, Hallal meats, a Korean shoe repair shop, etc. I'm not sure what that indicates. Is there a relatively large enclave of immigrants forming in that part of town?

I believe there are several asian oriented markets in Sharonville, but I believe they are primarily on the south side of I-275 not the north. The Cincinnati Asian Market on Route 42 on the south side of town labels itself as an Indian and Pakistani market.

You may also look in West Chester out near Tylersville Rd and I-75. A number of Middle Eastern and Central Asian people have been settling there. The Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati (513)-755-3280 is located just south of Tylersville Rd next to I-75. I would think this to be a good source of information as to what is going on in the area. I know some restaurants and markets have been opening up in the vicinity. I would not call it an enclave yet, but the density is definitely on the rise.

I haven't been through other parts of Sharonville lately, but everything listed above is definitely north. Saw it all this week. Some of the stores are in the plaza that formerly housed the Kroger, and the rest are across the street in the shops between Skyline and the KFC.

By the way, avoid the Chipotle in that strip...at least until the sewer backup problem is solved...the stink is horrible inside.

Well, unless the others I knew of have moved out of Sharonville proper there must be an increase of such markets in the area. Since they obviously need people to patronize them there may be an increase in that area also. I know there is an increase of ME and other asian people in West Chester because I see them all the time at the Meijer store there, both working and shopping.

I will admit to being horrible at placing the origin of most asians, anywhere from Lebanon to Indonesia. I am aware there are huge distinctions between the people, their customs, and religions, I just have not had enough exposure to distinguish by appearance. So when I say there are more asians in West Chester they could be Cambodians or Pakistani, I cannot distinguish.
