Looking up something for The State of Radio in Cincinnati thread made me think about old Cincy radio,

Decided that that needed a thread of it's own. (Searched and couldn't find anything) These should jog some memories and get this thread going:

I remember when I was young and my mother had AM radio on all the time as she worked around the house. One of the shows I liked was Arthur Godfrey. But that was also the era when WLW had their studio bands, singers, etc. and could produce a decent show. My late night favorite was Moon River. Went to sleep many a time listing to that music.

I also remember when WKRC was one of the premier country-western stations nationally, how about Midwestern Hayride? They must have had a directional antenna since people from the deep south were always calling in.

A couple of totally unrelated radio memories...

When I was a kid I remember driving to Florida with the family and listening to a Reds game on WLW from start to finish. It would fade in and out from time to time but to this day I still prefer the sound of a baseball game on AM (although it's not the same without Joe Nuxhall).

When I was in college I used to deliver pizzas to the 96Rock studio. This was the original 96Rock. The DJ's always paid us for the pizza with cassettes - yes, cassettes - remember those?
