The post office doesn't always get things delivered. I mailed some money to a friend that got there two days after the expected time just this month. I mailed a certified letter to Chicago some time ago that came back with someone else's signature. And, the post office is not really happy over any requests for a tracer.

After all, you are the one who bought the house, not the neighbor, and I'm sure she got a pretty penny for your purchase.

Heaven forbid that you should inconvenience her.
Yes, this is correct. Not my idea but hers. And I don't even know the neighbor but she has been watching the house for me and has helped out by allowing the agent to put a couple of garbage bags out for collection at her curbside.

Sadly this kind of arrogant attitude seems to be spreading around the country and is ruining the business world. Lots of people in service industries seem to look down upon their customers or treat them with a tremendous amount of disrespect and expect them to take it. I only put up with so much before I find a new business where I will spend my money.

Initially I asked to have them mailed because she indicated that she was not sure that she would be in town when I was going to arrive to pick up the keys. But yes, you are correct she should have left them at her office or with another agent and then I could have called that agent and met him or her to pick up the keys.

This is a rarity though. Using certified or registered mail greatly reduces the risk of a loss. Regular first class without a signature request would be a pretty risky proposition for something of this nature.
