If you think that helicopter parents are bad, ask any professor these days. Nearly everyone has a story of having to argue grades with parents.

FWIW, I got the impression that the school offered her tuition AFTER the falling out with her parents, i.e., in response to it. It seems a little uusual to hear about a school only offering a student a scholarship in their senior year.
