Was at the Kennedy Heights Art center last week and decided to stop in at Pleasant Ridge Chili to give their five way a try. I was very disappointed. Mainly because there was only a very thin layer of chili. Did I catch them on an off day or something?

On another note, I encourage anyone who likes exotic food to stop into Emanu.

Welcome to Emanu East African Restaurant

I dunno. I've never been to PRC before midnight. Or sober, for that matter.

Oh, the humanity!

I may stop in and do that. I need to try Chili Time's chili cheese fries with gravy as well. I saw the same on PRC menu as well. I've never had that yet and am excited to try it out.

I am magnetically drawn to Camp Washington when inebriated.

Emanu is EXCELLENT!

I agree that PRC makes a very mediocre 5-way for the very reason you describe. I always ask for my * ways "juicy" and it seems to alleviate this problem both at PRC and elsewhere. If you hit up PRC again, check out the chili cheese fries, the double deckers, coneys, and burgers and skip on the * way.

Gotcha! Most places I have been (Price Hill, Empress, Blue Ash, Chili Time, Camp Washington, US Chili, et al.) always load their five ways with chili, and the chili takes the dominant flavor. I dunno why PRC skimps on their chili. I will make a point to hit them again though. Overall I liked the place due to it's Mom and Pop atmosphere.

...it gets the most love for being just about the only game in town on the east side after 2 AM, for those who don't want to schlep over to Hopple St (or are in no condition to.)
My Pleasant Ridge fave is the Gas Light Cafe, on the right side of Montgomery Rd as you head out from town and just past Ridge Ave. Somehow you can just tell when a burger's cooked on a grill which has seen a lot of action. There's that extra zest to the flavor. And "made to order" is done to a T. My "medium" sample was the precise shade between pink and brown in the middle that signals just that. Lawdy was it good. AND THE BUN WAS TOASTED!!! Don't even get me started on the waffle fries.
Better yet, the Gas Light has completely resisted the craze to put itty bitty hanging lights over the bar, or replace the ancient tile floors and wooden booths. Rip Van Winkle could walk in after an eighty-year snooze and not know the difference until he saw the price list. And the company is congenial. It's an "everybody knows your name" joint.
I've not tried The Dubliner because, hey, I live in Boston. I can take my pick of Irish bars any day of the week!
Though not a vegetarian let alone vegan I enjoy going earthy-crunchy. But I still have yet to see how The Loving Hut does with what they offer. A lot of that has to do with my hard-core devotion to Amma's Kitchen in Roselawn, which is still assured after my latest pilgrimage there in October.
Cincinnati chili is an acquired taste which I (probably famously by now) haven't acquired. So hearing that a place "skimps" on it in their orders is actually a positive thing to be aware of.
