Atlanta and the south has taken another Corporate HQ from Ohio. (Cincinnati: apartment complex, house)

Have Ohio gained an companies from Atlanta or the South? Ohio need to go on the offensive.

Don't fret.

The big apartment complex where I'm paying a reasonable (?) price for a cubbyhole was owned by a land corporation based in Atlanta. Then the world changed a bit, and it is now owned by an absolutely huge land corporation (94 properties, 10 states) based in -- hold your breath -- Indianapolis. Just one place is in Georgia.

Based on the residents' handbook received just a shade over two weeks ago, they most certainly know what they are doing.

Look at the article closely. The recent head of the company never moved to Ohio but remained in Atlanta. Also they have purchased other companies in related fields all located in Atlanta. This was a slam-dunk from the beginning with Blue Ash on the outside looking it.

Reminds me when Carl Lindner was alive and running Cincinnati Financial. When they purchased another company it was a foregone conclusion their top management would move to Cincinnati, as that was Carl's turf. That rankled a number of those forced to move, including the heads of Chiquita who fled at the first opportunity. This Atlanta deal just sounds to me like another strong willed person with roots in Atlanta who has gained control of a company and they will move to Atlanta because that is his turf.

I'm not going to lose much sleep over a company of 115 with a local presence of 40 leaving. While local companies are important in the same sense the large engineering firms I've worked for have a local office presence of 10 times this companies local presences. All a matter if prespective I guess.

Yes. Most of the copy editing and pagination of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta's primary newspaper, is now being done in Dayton, not Atlanta. Several AJC employees relocated to Dayton.

Not exactly Coca-Cola pulling out of Atlanta and moving here, but it's something.

It's usually pretty hard to get a company to move headquarters and some marketing blitz by one place or another will have no bearing on it...it just depends what kind of roots the company leaders have in a community...like has been mentioned earlier, this company didn't have local based leadership, so it's just a matter of time in a situation like that.

Atlanta, Ga is a pretty dismal place. Stay in Ohio, it's more beautiful, the cities are a more interesting, people can read and they have dental care. PS - Atlanta and Georgia are not universally loved...except in Atlanta and Georgia.

Dangling tax breaks, state-paid utilities, rent, child care, etc., and you may get them to move. Considering how another Geaorgia company treated Cincy -- Delta -- I'd guessing Georgia doesn't have many fans in Ohio. drink Pepsi and fly USAirways, Americam or United.
