I think this restaurant went out of business a few years ago, but did it ever come back? If not, is there another place you can get Uzbek cuisine in Cincinnati?

I will have to admit I don't think I had ever heard of Uzbekistan and had to look it up. Then I realized why I was not familiar as it apparently was a former Soviet republic and only became an independent republic again after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. Home to 26.8 million people it is the largest population in Central Asia. It was rather easy to lose sight of all those stans which where controlled by the Soviet Union, and I still have no idea what the cuisine is like. So I am awaiting someone to pop in here and identify where it can be obtained.

I assume that because of the big displacement of people throughout the Soviet Union that this was probably a primarily Russian restaurant that happened to also have Uzbek cuisine and was named after an Uzbek city for some reason. I'm not sure what part of Cincinnati it was located in, but it shut down probably a year or two ago, and I was just wondering if anyone had ever eaten there, and if so, what the food was like.

The Uzbek restaurant that was open for about five years in Chicagoland also closed recently. The food was pretty good but it was pretty similar to many of the Balkan restaurants.

The worst thing I have ever tasted - pickled watermelon wa served at the place.

It looks like it was one Fields-Ertel in Mason-land. Did it happen to change its name to Oasis?
