This is a terrible occurrence, more so since it took place where "this kind of thing just doesn't happen."

Cosmic Pizza owner shot, killed during attempted robbery at Hartwell pizzeria

Cosmic Pizza had built a large following for its "St Louis style" pies that I'll probably now never get the chance to try. What matters far more is that the sense of security in one my my better liked city neighborhoods is shattered.

This is sad. Sorry goyguy. I am interested in Hartwell and I can just imagine the anguish in the community.

My family who lives up Compton Rd. in Finneytown would eat out at the Hartwell Frisch's once every month or two and we would always joke as we left the restaurant how we needed to try Cosmic Pizza across the street some time.

Very, very sad.

No neighborhood or business that handles cash is really immune. But like many others who are familiar with the area, I found this news shocking and terribly sad.

This is sadly becoming the norm for that area. It will spread into neigboring Wyoming soon enough.

Lockland, which is also right next door to Wyoming, has been a rough area for a LONG time now. And yet, Wyoming is still one of the best suburbs in the Cincinnati area. I think Wyoming will be just fine.

Spread? There is ALWAYS crime. Just that the media and the internet makes it more known. There is MANY crimes in the good areas not reported by the media.

True, but they rarely rise to the level of homicide in the Wyoming/Hartwell/Lockland vicinity. It's not at all unusual to hear of valuables stolen from an unlocked car or petty theft (like lawn ornaments or bicycles) or vandalism - the bane of "quiet" neighborhoods. On either side of Vine St inside the Cincinnati border the cops have traditionally been kept most occupied with Kroger shoplifters and, in more recent times, the occasional robbery or break-in at the lately troubled Williamsburg of Cincinnati apartment complex. Hartwell for all its ups and downs has stayed a sleepy and safe community. It's peacefully acclimated to a pretty drastic shift in demographics and has drawn quite a few urban pioneers, who are eager to restore Victorian homes broken up into efficiency apartments or snap up a sturdy intact 1920's bungalow/cottage. Drive along any given side street and you'll see kids playing in yards while their parents and other neighbors chat between their porches, the way it used to be most places. The pizzeria crime should be seen for the anomaly that it is, and not as a harbinger of spreading lawlessness.

This isn't sad news for just pizza lovers, this is sad news for anyone with a heart. Obviously, the worthless thug who killed this man doesn't have one.
