Most people who are 'in the know' so to speak would actually contend that things have improved over the past six years. Six years ago places us at the time of the riots, 9/11, and a recession. Since then the population of Downtown has continued to grow, as well as, the overall city and metro population. Crime has also dropped in those six years...and the job market has improved slightly.

Does anyone include Lincoln Heights as a bad area. Its not in the inner city and is surrounded by suburbs. Wyoming, lockland, Evendale, Woodlawn. The ghetto no one knows exists. I gurantee its just as bad as OTR and Bond Hill, Avondale ect..

Well, some have ranked us the most awful place to live, other have named us the best. Cincinnati is great! I love living here and would gladly tell anyone that it's a great place.

I moved to Cincinnati from Boston and I have to say that at first, the hardcore ghetto-factor was a little overwhelming but it quickly became entertaining. I mean seeing brotha's wearing faux fur jogging suits or jogging suits made out of fake Louis Vuitton printed fabric is just flat out high larious. Ever see an ES 300 with a Louis Vuitton custom velvety soft-top and $20K Lexani rims? You'll see it in Da Natti.
Cincinnati does have one of the largest urban poor populations, but the city is also somewhat of a bell curve. Large numbers of poor people, but then there's also a very yuppie side to the city as well. Large upper 40%, large lower 40%, and everyone in the middle lives on the West side.
Safest Bets For Newbies:
* Mt Adams
* Hyde Park
* Oakley
* Clifton (very crunchy / grad student / Lesbaru driving types)
* Northside, but only if you're more punk-culture minded, artsy, and / or gay.
Places To Avoid:
* Westwood, Chevoit, Mt Airy, Delhi, Green Twp, pretty much anywhere west of I-75.
* Norwood, Avondale, Walnut Hills
* Over the Rhine is a mixed bag. I think you need to live here for awhile before just moving to OTR from out of town. OTR can be cool if you know people here, but otherwise it's a hit or miss ghetto.
Nice but you'll be bored out of your mind:
* NKY
* Anywhere outside of 275
* Anywhere that's post 1970's era suburban.
